Storm turned and strode down the hallway towards the main staircases. She took a deep breath. There were an unusual amount of newcomers to the mansion tonight.
What worried her most of all, however, was that something was clearly bothering Bobby, and she had pushed him to the edge of her list of priorities; she didn't want to betray his or anyone's trust, even in a minor way. Anyway, she wasn't sure how minor the issue was. Hopefully she would find him downstairs.
Ororo stepped out onto the landing and glanced across to the boy's dorms. A touch of blue caught her eye and the corners of her mouth went up slightly.
[OOC: Come on down, everyone! Oh, and thanks for the map, Iceman. ; )]

As Bobby caught up with Kurt and Rayen as they walked toward the landing that led to the stairs, and opposite that the girl's rooms, he paused and shot Kurt a look. "Did I just hear 'icecube on legs'?" he asked with fake indignance. "You can't teleport when you're frozen, Smoky." He said tauntingly, smiling at him to show it was all in good fun.
Looking past Kurt and Rayen, Bobby caught sight of Ororo on the landing. "There she is," he said. He started to call out, but saw that she'd already seen them. He was relieved to have finally found her. Hopefully she'd already done whatever it was she'd needed to do.

Kurt stopped in his tracks, turning to face Bobby as he walked up behind him. "Actually, Herr Drake, I can," he said with a grin, waving his hands in front of Bobby's face. "No physical requirements neccesary. It's all in the mind." He tapped Bobby's forehead with a thick finger as Bobby looked past him.
"There she is."
Kurt stood up straight and turned back to the entryway hall, watching as Ororo walked towards them. He smiled brightly and stepped forward, motioning to Conduit. "Ah, Ms. Munroe, may I introduce to you Miss Rayen. She has neglected to tell me her last name, otherwise I would give that to you too."

Conduit was dizzy from all the conversation going on around her. It was impossible for any of them to know how much every word they spoke in her direction meant. Somehow all of this seemed commonplace to them.
She towards the figure Kurt greeted, and stepped forward, offering her hand. "Just Rayen is find. Or you may call me Conduit." She gestures to Bobby and Kurt. "You have quite the welcome service Miss Munroe, they both have been very kind." She smiled a bit at Bobby, remembering how he'd so smoothly handled her little 'moment'.

"Kurt, you again - oh!" Ororo's eyebrows went up in surprise. Another! She looked around at the group in amusement, broke into another smile at the introduction, and took the girl's hand in both of hers.
"Rayen, hello, welcome to the Mansion, it's wonderful to meet you. Yes, they're good, aren't they?" When she let go of Rayen's hand, she moved slightly to the side and glanced at Bobby, putting a hand on his shoulder as if to say 'don't go anywhere this time.'
But her attention was fully on the newcomer. "My name is Ororo; my codename is Storm. I suppose what you call me depends on what you seek." She nodded her head slightly. "What brings you here, Rayen?"

Bobby caught Rayen's little smile and returned it. When Ororo put a hand on his shoulder, he looked at her. 'Does that mean I'm next in line?' he wondered hopefully, giving her a smile as well. He planned not to let her leave his sight until he'd had a chance to talk to her.

THE question.
Rayen managed to keep the pleasant smile on her face, her eyes locked to Storm's. If she dared to look at Kurt, who seemed to sense her searching, or Bobby, who seemed only to wish for her to forget her troubles, she'd crack, and make a fool of herself.
It took a few seconds too long to answer. "To be perfectly honest, I'm unsure. I know that I have reached the limits of my ability to train myself, and am largely unaware of what it is to be... what we are." Good Ray, keep going. You're doing fine. "Xavier invited me here when I was a child." She paused, sadness that would be interpreted as mourning crossing her face. "I didn't accept the invitation, but I'm here now. Please forgive me if I don't know what to ask for. It's only because I don't know what this place has to give.
Not bad. Now calm down, or you're going to have a heart attack right here in the hallway.
Conduit smiled a bit, clearing her throat again.

"And what a line! Yes, Bobby, I won't run away this time." Satisfied that he was not hurt by her neglect, she gave her full attention to Rayen, locking eyes with the girl and listening closely.
Rayen was nervous, unsure of herself, but carried herself admirably. Ororo nodded to her and smiled again maternally, trying to put her at ease. "Then I would say this is where you belong.
"You don't have to ask anything of us, and we won't ask anything of you." The words were isolationist, but Storm's demeanor was friendly, peaceful. "Take a room, take a few days, speak and explore at your own pace. I think - I hope - that if you desire it, you will find much education here."

Kurt smiled at Ororo as she approached, amusement twinkling in his yellow eyes. "Ja, Göttin, me again."
He listened carefully as Rayen spoke, stepping up next to her and setting a hand on her shoulder comfortingly. He was curious about her unwillingness to use the word mutant, but he didn't say anything and kept his face soft and calm. She's nervous enough as it is, and hopefully there will be enough time to explore views later.
"Ororo," Kurt said, his eyes turning away from Rayen to focus on the atmokinetic, "if you will take her to a room I can fetch the bedclothes and she can get settled in."

When Kurt offered to get to get Rayen's sheets and that Ororo get her a room, Bobby looked between the two of them. He wasn't sure who he ought to go with, and wondered if Kurt wouldn't want him going in the girl's dorm wing with her, based on what Bobby had been stupid enough to say earlier.

Conduit felt her pulse slowly lose tempo as Storm's words warmed her. Kurt's hand on her shoulder brought a feeling back to her she hadn't thought she'd find here. She was so grateful for this sense of peace, she couldn't think of a thing to say.
Realizing she was just standing there, she nodded calmly. "Thank you," she managed to say to Storm, and looked at Kurt, watching his eyes for a moment. When she realized he might think she was staring at him, she smiled to herself and looked at Bobby, then STorm again.
"Thank you all, I appreciate it."

Storm held Rayen's eyes lightly for a moment, pleased. "Well, that's settled."
She caught Bobby's uncertainty, and made a snap decision. "Thank you for your offer, Kurt, and if I may ask a bit more of you - would you be so good as to show Rayen a room? I do have an appointment with Bobby." She reached into her pocket, brought out a keychain, and tossed it to the teleporter. "Take care of those, now, and feel free to find me when you're done. You are lucky I trust you in the girls' wing." She looked wryly at Kurt.
"It is very good to meet you, Rayen," she said sincerely. "I hope to see you again soon."

Kurt deftly caught the keys with his tail as he turned to Rayen, offering her a soft smile. "So, Fräulein, shall I show you to your room?" He bowed slightly and motioned down the hall with one arm before turning and walking that direction himself. "I hope you don't mind that your bellhop is blue."
He made his way to the linen closet at the near end of the hallway, opening it and looking at Rayen critically. "Well, you're no taller than me, meaning you don't need extra-long sheets, unlike Peter. We still have no idea what they fed him." He pulled out a set of twin sheets and turned back to her. "Ready?"

Conduit laughed, smiling easily as the others left them. She felt a bit awkward following him like this, but figured as soon as she was alone in her room she could unwind and slowly begin exploring her new life here.
"I think so," she nodded.
"To answer your question... electrokinesis, was the closest word I could find for what I do. Electricity is like air to me. Or maybe a bit like metal is to a magnet. Definitely closer to that." She nodded, looking around.
"So I'm a bit old for school... but I suppose you guys have grades, like martial arts or something... ranks maybe?"

Kurt nodded, walking down the hall slowly. "Sounds like quite an impressive power. I am but a simple teleporter, although a dashingly good looking one." He grinned as his tail passed the keys to the hand that wasn't burdened with sheets, and he stepped up to one of the locked doors leading to an empty single.
Fumbling with the various keys in an effort to find the right one, Kurt glanced at her. "Ja, there are various levels of education and training here. We teach middle school through college level, and training never entirely stops. Even I am still learning just what i can do." He gave a satisfied grunt as a key finally turned in the lock and the door swung open.

He was still learning? That amazed her. He seemed so comfortable here. Or maybe that was part of it. Conduit realized a great deal of her training here would come from inside herself; understanding her own capacity, through the capacity of others.
Or something like that.
She sighed, watching Kurt, blushing as he joked with her. She had to be careful of this one. He could charm the fur coat off an eskimo.
Conduit stood on her toes a bit, unconsciously anxious to look over his shoulder. She caught herself and her heels landed firmly on the flood, startling her a bit.

Hearing her heels hit the floor, Kurt turned, sheets draped over one arm, and opened his mouth to speak when his eyes caught sight of Rayen's face. Is she... blushing? Perhaps I have said something to embarrass her - I will have to be more careful. He smiled and stepped through the open door, walking to the bed and dropping the sheets on it. "This room will be yours, Fräulein, for as long as you want it."
Glancing at the head of the bed, Kurt snapped his fingers as he saw the lack of a pillow to go with the bed. "If you will wait here for a moment, Miss Rayen, I will be back momentarily with a pillow for you." There was a bamf! and he was gone.

Storm looked satisfied as Kurt let Rayen down the hallway. She turned to Bobby.
"Now, unless a hurricane hits, I think we have some time to talk. And I don't think a hurricane could get very near here, do you?" She glanced at the window over the front landing, into the calm night, and lifting one hand cleared a few clouds so the stars shined through.
"Well Bobby, why don't we find a place to sit? I've been on my feet since dinner. Is the living room all right, or would you like to speak in private?" She turned towards the stairs.
