Alani saw him scratch his head and got even more embarrassed. He must think I'm such a freak!

When he shook his head to her last-ditch question, she panicked. She stood and picked up her bag and shoved her books into it. "Ummm..."

"Are you all right?"

Not really! she wanted to shout, but she instead she clutched her bag to her breasts and backed away from him towards the door. Please, don't think I'm scared, alright? she wished inside.

"I, uh, should prolly get to bed, ya know? Um, yeah... see ya!" She turned and ran out of the room.

A second later she ran back in and stopped suddenly. Her mouth opened and a small squeak came out. She took a step back, then blurted, "It was nice to meet you!"

Then she ran away again.

Liam watched Alani with growing concern coupled with a curious amusement. As far as he was aware, he hadn't done anything wrong, nothing out of the ordinary for common social interaction. Perhaps something she had done...? Or said?

It was all very confusing.

As she stood, he half-rose from his chair in surprise, his wings flaring to either side. He mentally growled and pulled them back in. She was clutching her bag to her chest, she was spouting words faster than he could follow...

And she was gone.

Liam blinked and looked around as though there was someone there who could tell him what had happened, and then she ran in the door again. He rose completely, his body adjusting for the sudden change in balance, and his mouth opened slightly to say something when she squeaked.

Skies above, he didn't know what to say to that.

More spouted words, and she was gone again. Liam stood there in utter confusion for a few moments, glancing at the open door, before turning back to the window and leaping out into the cooling night air, pulling his goggles around his neck and heading higher to clear his head.
