Mystique got into the backseat and urged the cab driver on. As they got out onto the highway, she looked at Poseidon, her true form revealed.
She hoped he wasn't as shocked by a nude blue woman with bright red hair as the cabbie seemed to be. As he opened his mouth to say something, she held a finger to her lips. "Just take us to the train station at 7th and Crescent."
It wasn't until they'd reached their destination and she'd paid the cabbie, shifted to her 'human' form with black hair and olive skin, and lifted the backpack she'd asked Poseidon to take to the cab for her onto one shoulder, that she had the time to speak to him.
Offering her hand, she thought better of it as she realized he wasn't wearing gloves.
"I'm sorry. Hello. Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Mystique." She actually smiled, the same expression on this new face that existed on the Oracle's only hours before.

It had taken twenty minutes at the most for Sy to pack his small amount of things and meet 'Oracle' downstairs so they could leave. He kept a watch on her out of the corner of his eye, waiting for her to do something like she had before, but it wasn't until the cab ride that she changed into a beautiful blue-skinned Goddess.
And gods was she ever beautiful. Sy couldn't remember ever being so taken with anyone as he was at the sight of her. And it wasn't her nakedness - he'd grown up in the jungles for his sake, he was used to naked women by now - it was the way she held herself. She knew what every piece of her body looked like, and she held it in a way that accentuated it all. The shock of red hair added to the appearance, and it was only her pupiless yellow eyes that caught him offguard in any way.
It was much less shocking to watch the transformation back into what appeared to be a normal human that looked nothing like Oracle. "Mystique," he said with another bow as she introduced herself. He wondered if there even was an 'Oracle' now that he saw the true form of her.

Laughing fluidly, and certainly because she was charmed and not at his expense, Mystique waited for Poseidon to rise, and looped her arm in his.
"Come. We have so much to talk about."
It took them another hour or so to get on the train- she'd booked a private car and set the menu in front of him after ordering herself only a glass of white wine.
"I suppose you're curious about Oracle now." She smiled a bit. "She is real, a nice young lady at the school. A bit of a recluse... easy enough to avoid. I had some business to see to in the mansion."
Taking a slow sip of wine, she thought, looking out the window as the train began chugging faster towards the city. "I will tell you more about the Brotherhood when we've met up with the others. The ladies we are meeting are younger and I don't believe it could hurt to have them hear what I have to say either."
Looking back at him, she set down her glass. "Suffice it to say I am not the X-Men's enemy, but they choose to see it that way in spite of the fact that I have helped them on a number of occasions." A subtle shrug. "So be it, hmm?" A wicked smile.

"So be it indeed," Sy replied with a nod and took a sip of his own glass, still at a bit of a loss for words on the situation he'd just found himself in. It was all well and good that she'd impersonated someone at the mansion, especially since they would have forced her to leave if she'd shown herself, but he certainly was curious about both Mystique and Oracle.
Although he supposed from the sounds of it, Oracle wouldn't be worth meeting, not if it had been Mystique the entire time. And so would there be anyone at the mansion to miss him? To even realize he was gone? Certainly his cousin would have at least noticed, if he hadn't already left himself. Appearantly there were more souls to save elsewhere, and good luck to him with that. It was Sy's experiance that you couldn't make people believe anything they didn't want to believe; be it god or mutants.
"And is it just the X-men who see this Brotherhood as the enemy then? Or do your brother's share the sentiment in return?"

"It depends entirely on the brother, honestly. The organization was born amidst a conflict between two very different philosophies. Some of us choose to see it that way; to some of us it's easier to define everyone friend, or enemy. You'll learn quickly, because you're intelligent, that no one is every really one, or the other."
"Right now, our new leader has become one of the FBI's most wanted individuals. I don't know if that means anything to you, but it makes him a pretty valuable target to law enforcement. It is safe to assume that membership in our ranks makes you a criminal by default."
She shook her head a little, as if it were either a shame, or no big deal. "I've spent a lot of years defined as many things by many governments. In the end, you are still a god. We are building something important enough to sacrifice our reputations for." She toasted him with her glass, and finished the wine. "Or maybe I should say, we're willing to build reputations of a different kind."
"We'll arrive in a few minutes. Remind me where they asked you to meet them."

Sy listened silently, but attentively, to Mystique as she explained certain things to him. He was willing to have a reputation as a Bad Guy if that's what it took. It didn't seem the X-men were having too much luck being the Good Guys anyways. Once again he hoped that the Brotherhood wouldn't take offence to his having fought against them in Baltimore - especially the woman who made the plants.
"They asked me to meet them in a park in the middle of the city. Center Park, I believe?"
From what he was seeing outside the window, there was no way that there could be any room for such a park in the center of New York City. He'd never seen such a city before, and he could not tear his eyes away from the skyscrapers that made up the skyline. So much Technology. He hoped the Brotherhood Headquarters was nothing like New York City.

They left the train and got into another cab. It took them more time to cross the city towards Central Park, and during the ride she half turned towards him, and arm up on the back of the seat, fingers toying with her hair in a way that was still somehow entirely poised and graceful.
"Change is made by those willing to break from conformity. Our heroes were all once criminals themselves. Freedom always comes at a price."
That was the end of the rhetoric for now, she decided, and watched the city with a faint smile. Soon enough they were at the park, and they got out of the cab after she handed the man their fair.
Mystique eyed Poseidon for a moment, then began walking towards the place he had indicated before.
