Shiro cruised slowly through the quiet streets of Westchester thoroughly impressed by the complete lack of traffic. As a man more used to moving at nothing more than a crawl through along the roads of New York city, it was a blissful relief. Still he did not hurry. At the moment he was early for his appointment with miss Taylor and so he had time to enjoy the ride.
'A man who concentrates only on his destination learns nothing from the journey' his uncle had once told him. It was a lesson he had taken very much to heart.
A couple mounted on a large, expensive looking bike roared past at a leisurely rate and Shiro smiled to himself. It was the sort of morning that made you glad to be alive; bright, clear and blue.
He had been surprised to see an article in the morning paper about a death that had supposedly occurred on the Xavier Institute grounds the previous afternoon and had worried for awhile that miss Taylor would call to cancel their appointment.
His fears had proved unfounded however; there had been no call.
It didn't look like the sort of neighborhood that turned up random bodies all that often. It did in fact look like the sort of neighborhood where outsiders were charged for breathing the residents air.
The morning sunshine spilled in through the open window and Shiro couldn't help but smile to himself again.
It felt like a good omen.
