Across the globe the news turns to a strange series of events that occurred in Washington DC mid-day today, at an upscale restaurant.
On the heels of Baltimore, and the controversy of the previous Press conference by the Secretary of Mutant Affairs, it seems another mutant-related incident has shocked both the mutant and normal communities.
Secretary Karen Willard was attacked in the restaurant by a man who revealed himself as a mutant. Reports claim that he seemed to transform into some form of taloned bug creature, and had knocked her out of her chair, claws raised to kill her.
Then the oddity happened. A nearby man seemed to save the Secretary, demonstrating amazing powers to do so. Reports are sketchy at this time, but one thing was clear: The man was dressed as a superhero

More reports are leaked. The attacker was known mutant felon Richard “Bugman” Jacobs, a known small-time criminal and general shady character.
The hero was a man named Kyle Kennedy, a salesman at an advertising firm who had not been known before to be a mutant. Immediate reports indicate that Kyle had been working with a major network to come out of the closet with his mutant powers on a reality show.

The network's executives are adamant that this was not a publicity stunt to hype the upcoming show, which would indeed feature Kyle Kennedy pursuing his childhood dream of actually being a super-hero. Mark Furman, of the Network, is qouted as saying: “If this was a PR stunt, don't you think we'd have filmed the damn thing?”
Kyle Kennedy was not arrested at the scene, but was brought in for questioning by both the FBI and the DCPD.
It is confirmed that the “Bugman” was killed when Kennedy “flew from across the room, and struck the attacker in the head with his fist”.
Witnesses at the scene are given interviews, and these are broadcast on most news channels. They each describe the bug in detail, and the chaos. Some say Kennedy flew in in a superhero costume, and saved the Senator. Others say he exploded from his suit and tie, the costume on, and then saved her. Some argue it had to be a hoax, because it was too convenient, others that it couldn't have been – they saw the whole thing, he was talking to a few people when it happened, and looked as surprised as everyone else.

Fresh footage is broadcast from outside Kennedy's apartment building.
A red-headed woman emerges to ask what is going on.
A young male voice asks, "Do you know Kyle Kennedy? He lives in this building."
"Know him? I work for him." The woman, who the caption describes as Madelyne Pryor, Kennedy's personal assistant, looks curious at the question.
Immediately, the sound becomes an overwhelming cacaphony of voices shouting questions. "One at a time, please!" Madelyne looks slightly overwhelmed.
"Can you tell us about the incident over lunch today?" One voice cuts through all the others.
Frowning in puzzlement, the personal assistant responds, "I'm sorry? It's my day off."
The shouting resumes - questions about conspiracy theories and setups and why her boss was dressed as a superhero.
"I'm terribly sorry that I can't help, but I know nothing about it. As far as I know, Kyle was out for lunch with some colleagues from the firm." Backing away from the reporters, the woman returns inside and enters the lift.
Speculation continues about the nature of the incident.
