6:45 pm, Eastern Time (USA)
Outside the 14th precinct D.C.PD station.
The crowd of media shown is extreme, all of them storming to get a word in with Kyle Kennedy, who is seen walking freely from the building. He wears what can only be described as a superhero outfit. It’s mostly dark blue with white-highlights. It includes a cape, and looks state of the art. Oddly, it doesn’t look dorky on him – he somehow manages to actually look remarkably good in it. Several officers are seen trying to fend the crowd from him, but Kennedy actually holds them back, and raises both hands, trying to slow the stream of questions.
“Please, please, I’d be happy to make a statement, just calm down.” He said, his natural charisma almost a palpable force.
The crowd did just that, almost calming immediately as he told them to, though clicking is still heard as cameras snapped.
“Firstly I’d like to thank the Washington D.C. boys in blue, as well as the federal officers who were involved in my visit here in the station. They were both kind and respectful to me.”
He clearly meant that literally, no hint of sarcasm in his voice, only genuine respect.
“The situation was discussed, and I’m sure it’s all over the place now. I’d like to confirm a few things. I happened to be at the restaurant in a business meeting when the mutant attacked the senator. I did what I had to do to save her life, and sadly, he died. I didn’t have the time to hesitate, as her life was clearly in danger. I won’t apologize for my actions, and I’d do the same again, though it is unfortunate that the attacker lost his life.”
He regarded the crowd in the fashion a father would regard his children, yet even this didn’t look arrogant, simply natural.
“It is true I do have a show upcoming wherein I reveal my nature on television. Come out of the closet, so to speak. It’s a reality show… in lieu of current events, I’m unsure if it will be cancelled or not. A small price to pay in order to save the life of the good Senator. I imagine the show will continue on NBC, only documenting my new career – as protector of Washington DC.”
The crowd immediately buzzed to life, speaking in rushed tones with one another, some attempted to ask him questions, but again he silenced them with a wave of his hands.
“This is true, I am now devoting my life to the protection of this city. Of course, should a national or global emergency call my attention, I’d assist in any way possible. My primary concern is here, my home town. Before anyone gets any ideas about vigilantism, it should be noted that I’ll act only within the accords of the law. Nothing I do will violate the law, and I’ve given my personal number to both the police and the FBI. I’ll work with any government organization to better mankind… unlike other so called ‘heroes’, such as the X-Men, who keep themselves anonymous and work at odds to the government. They are vigilantes, and will no doubt continue to disrupt and harm mutant/human relations so long as they exist in the shadows.”
He regarded the media with a grim look, and nodded emphasis on his point.
“As for me, my name is Kyle Kennedy… but to DC, to mankind, I am the GUARDIAN.”
Then he turned, walking back up the stairs, then half turned to face them again. “I’ll be there, when you need me.”
He raised a hand to the air, and suddenly burst into the air, speeding up into the sky with incredible speed. He looked amazing. He looked like a comic book superhero come life, and managed to make it work.
