The screen shows well-known singer Alison Blaire on a red carpet at some premiere or awards show, smiling prettily at the cameramen lining the barricade. A female reporter's voice plays over the clip.
"Alison Blaire has been in the music business' spotlight since the age of seventeen. She has won many awards and much appraisal for her chart-topping songs."
Magazine after magazine appeared on-screen, with Alison's face smiling from them.
"But her recent shift toward film with movie legend Roman Nekobah has drawn a different kind of attention. Since they made public their plans to begin working on a film that they hoped would 'show the mutant population in a more positive and truthful light', both Blaire and Nekobah have been receiving hate mail from anti-mutant activists across the globe."
The camera shifted to focus on Alison as she sat in a chair in a low-lit room, with a dark backdrop behind her. Her expression was one of solemnity as she read straight from a letter she held in her hands.
"You do your movies about muties, and you trumpet that they're victims. But people like the mutant terrorists are not victims. And if you support the muties, then you're one of two things. You're a mutie yourself, or you're a mutie lover. And that's just as bad." Towards the end, Alison's voice trembled slightly, though when she looked back up to the interviewer off-screen, she looked quite collected.
Then, as a clip from some later point in the interview. Alison was leaning forward slightly in her chair, speaking passionately. "These people are the same people who threw rocks through the windows of Muslims, and gave every person who looked like they could be from the Middle East a dirty look after September 11th."
"Not every mutant is a terrorist--only this one small group is. And that doesn't mean they should be underestimated by any means, but it doesn't mean that everty child born with the same gene they have should be labelled a monster because of one extremist group."
The interviewer's voice spoke again as the station's logo appeared on the screen. "See the anti-mutant hate as it is written to ALison Blaire. Tomorrow night, on XBC."
