Name: Joshua Foley
Codename(s): Elixir
Affiliation: X-men
Age: 23
Height: 5’9”
Weight: 157
Hair Color: Golden Blonde
Eye Color: Blue
Appearance: Before the incident in Baltimore, Josh looks like any other normal guy – tall, tanned to a golden bronze, and blonde. Once the “incident” happens, he’s still tanned to a golden bronze, but it’s really more than that. He actually is a golden bronze… with gold hair. Although in most light its not terribly noticeable, in direct sun he lights up like a tanning bed, and most people can’t look at him without sunglasses.
Josh has got one of those smiles that speaks a wealth of self-confidence, and can light up a room. His blue eyes are intelligent and sure of their owner, and kind if you’re not on his bad side. He usually wears stylish clothing, even if it’s just a trendy t-shirt over jeans, paired with a jacket or some other accessory. He’s almost girlish in his looks.
Personality: Josh has always been a “golden boy” - able to do no wrong by his family and friends. Because of this, he’s always had a little too much self-confidence, sometimes edging on arrogance. But he’s a nice kid, and tries his hardest at what he sets out to do. He does respond to peer-pressure very easily though, in an effort to stay the golden boy he’s always been.
The problem with being told you are better than everyone else though, is finding that you believe you are better than everyone else. Josh has a tendency to look down on people he doesn’t think are worthy of him, which include most minorities and mutants. While he’s civil enough most days, if he’s found in a crowd or group that doesn’t like someone, he’ll do his part to put them down in order to stay cool with the group.
Likes: Sports, clubs, drinking (he can drink almost anyone under the table), music, and anything else deemed “cool” by the majority.
Dislikes: Anything deemed “un-cool” by the majority, and cigarettes, oddly enough.
Powers and Abilities: Josh has the ability to change the DNA structure of any human or mutant, curing them of any disease or wound inflicted, including mental disabilities or memory blockages. He can use this power on himself as well as others, and can heal anything from a paper-cut to a fatal wound to a mutant who has been “cured” by restoring their genetic structure. Because of this, Josh hardly ever gets sick, and wounds that should be very large and serious end up no more than a bruise or a small cut that heal quickly.
Weaknesses: Josh must be touching the person he is healing, whether through clothing or skin-to-skin. He also looses energy while he heals – so fatal wounds can knock him out cold or take weeks to completely heal up.
History: Josh grew up as the youngest of a three-boy family, instantly becoming the “baby” of the siblings, and vaulting him to the “he can do no wrong” status of his parents. When his brothers picked on him, he ran to mom. When he picked on his brothers, his father dismissed it as finally learning to fight back. When his eldest brother pushed him out of a tree, and instead of breaking his arm Josh came away with nothing more than a bruise that healed in two days, his parents pronounced him lucky. He’s always had a guardian angel, although he didn’t know who or what it was.
Josh naturally excelled at sports, choosing baseball as his favorite, followed close behind by rugby and soccer. His mother always worried that he’d come away with a black eye or busted rib, but he never suffered more than a scratch. He seemed destined to go on to be a pro-baseball player when the University of Baltimore picked him up during his senior year of high school for a full scholarship. To top it all off, he had a 3.5GPA and rather high SAT scores – Golden Boy.
He started his freshman year in business and was flying through the classes, and games, when the suddenly unknown status he had accrued got to him. Josh didn’t really feel that he fit in. The other baseball players were older, and better players, even if they did get hurt more often. His fellow students didn’t hold his same views on life, most of them having to fight hard to get what they wanted and needed, rather than just gliding through on good looks and good luck. In an effort to fit in, Josh heard about a group called the Reavers, and contacted the head, Donald Pierce, immediately.
Don saw a good thing in Josh, namely his willingness to follow blindly into any situation and follow orders if only to fit in. He let the kid join, and through the years they’ve caused a few small skirmishes – nothing too extreme. They heard of the first cure clinics, and Don was pushing for them to go, before the Alcatraz incident closed them all down. As soon as they heard about the clinic opening in Baltimore, however, Don made the announcement that the Reavers would attend the little gathering and heckle as many mutants as they could. Anyone who left the line before getting the cure would be attacked as a warning to the others.
Josh agreed without hesitation, and found his way to the appointed meeting place the morning of May 21st…
*sends you all kisses* Stamp him before he's needed at Baltimore, yes? (I know I'm late....)
