Name: Candice Murphy
Codename: None. Those are for hackers and super-people
Affiliation: X-Men
Age: 33
Height: 5’4”
Weight: 135 lbs
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Brown
Candice is the lead administrator for the Xavier school. She takes no real role in the X-men, even so far as being annoyed they are stationed at the school, but takes her job passionately as the admin. She essentially runs all the aspects of the school itself when Storm can’t, including greeting new students, doing technical and administrative paper work and computer work, and making sure bills are paid and things are done. She’s a regular face at the school, though has been on vacation for two weeks, returning early because of Baltimore.
Appearance:
Candice is fairly attractive, unless your particular kick is a nerdy chick (then she’d be very attractive,) and is small. Her hair is medium length, usually cut to fall about the shoulders, and she is never seen without her glasses on – having vision that’s yet to be fully corrected by science or some random mutant’s powers.
Her dress while at work is formal, yet comfortable. She wears slacks, never dresses or skirts, comfortable shoes and decent blouses – often with suit tops.
(played by Tina Fey)
Personality:
Very patient, calm, and friendly – a great mix for someone who has to constantly deal with press-types, angry parents, and mutant haters… not to mention troublesome students. She loves to help people, particularly when they have a genuine problem, or need advice on getting through life. She’s had a decent run of it, and considers herself happy – though lonely.
Candice is every inch the nerd she looks, having a secret life online that is not quite the same foot she puts forward in public. There she is an online RP Goddess, hammering out story after story in message board role playing games and fan fiction sites. Her ultimate goal is to be a sci-fi/fantasy writer. She loves Harry Potter.
Powers and Abilities:
She is a mutant, but not with a very potent or awesome power. Candice’s ability is completely bio-chemical. She has mental control over her own internal fluids, being able to expand the amount of them almost to an unlimited degree, and being able to change them into anything she’s ever consumed before. This means she can sweat coffee, pee soda, or bleed water. She can also continuously make any amount of these substances… being able to spray coffee from her mouth in an unimaginable quantity, for example.
Otherwise she’s simply an intelligent and highly skilled administrator. She’s got decent computer and people skills.
History:
Candice had an awkward childhood. She was very unathletic, very shy, and had big glasses – and an even bigger imagination. The latter, of course, making her live almost constantly in a dream world, and making her constantly lost in books and TV.
Her nerd life got even worse when her mutant powers sprang up, causing her to sweat orange juice in gym class. It was completely disastrous, and completely traumatizing. Her parents had no where to take her, and she was a complete cast out in her social life… naturally, Xavier saved the day.
At the school for gifted youngsters she found her role in life, and fell in love with the very school itself. It wasn’t surprising that when she graduated, and went off to college, in full control of her powers (no more accidental sweating of juices) she returned a few years later with her degree in business and administration, only to take on that role for Xavier in the school. When he passed, she became Storm’s assistant in that very fashion.
Sample Post:
Candice had been thinking about Xavier again. He’d been such a kind man, so understanding, so gentle – it was all she wanted to be exactly what he was. Of course she’d never had an awesome control over the moods and minds of others or anything, nor his sort of impressive magnetic charisma, but she did have the heart and drive and courage to try to do the right thing by every person she met. I mean, at least she thought she did. She seemed to get a decent reaction from the students and other faculty…
This was exactly why she volunteered to pull her vacation short when Storm went off to Baltimore. Naturally someone needed to take care of the school, and she’d only had three more real days of vacay left anyway. Of course, it demonstrated why she hated the insufferable X-Men running shop out of a SCHOOL in the first place… but that was an argument for another day.
She pulled her Volvo into the parking garage, noting the few new cars there. Since Scott had been gone it’d looked less and less like a collection of fancy sports cars and bikes, which was all the better. Again, she thought, this was a school not a super ninja club.
(( This is a CK brand character, ala Forge/Wolvie/DP/DM/Guardian ))
