I was debating this character, as much as the concept has been haunting me, until Ms Picky said we needed more children. So here you go! I'm very open with this girl, so if there are things we'd like to change, add, alter, etc- pitch in, all. I think the world is missing a few psi-babies since X and Jean took off, and I took a different spin on both to create something original. I will of course create an ID for her once she is approved.
Name: Hannah Creed
Codename: Phase Type C
Affiliation: New Mutant(I'm a bit confused by this designation- I'd like her to end up at Xavier's, but not start there)
Age: 10
Height: 4'5"
Weight: 75 lbs.
Hair Color: Light blonde(almost platinum)
Eye Color: Light gray
Appearance: Hannah is an athletic child, an oddity due to the near lethargy she almost always displays. She looks like a faded photograph- from the nearly platinum hair, yellow still at tips and roots, to her perpetually pale complexion and light coloured eyes. She owns only the hospital-green lycra tights and long sleeved tshirt of the place from which she came, so that is all she wears. Her hair is usually worn loose when someone does not pull it back for her.
Personality: Quick to smile, Hannah's spirit has not been dulled by the hardships she has suffered. She is a bright child with a startingly ability to understand people, their motivations, and her place in life. Though often too tired to play exhuberantly with other children, during the times she is capable of being active she shows a bountiful joy in movement that endears people to her. Though fearless is not the word someone might use to describe her, Hannah is certainly afraid of little; accepting all things with a calm sort of insight.
Powers and Abilities: Clairvoyance, Mild Telempathy, "Astral" Projection, Fighting Skills
Clairvoyance: Defined in the strictest sense of the word. Hannah can see in real time other places, events, people, even at great distance, though her ability does fade the further away her target becomes, or due to duration of clairvoyant observation. This ability is capable of being blocked by those actively trying to hide, dependent on the individual's will and cognizant intent to conceal themselves psychically. Hannah requires specific names of people or locations to use her clairvoyant powers. If someone near her knows the person in question or has been to the place personally, her power becomes enhanced. If she herself has been to the location or knows the person in question, her power is very great.
Mild Telempathy: Hannah can sense the emotional state or intent of those near to her. The range is roughly five feet. She does not know specific thoughts or motivations- only overlying mood and temperment.
Both Clairvoyance and Telempathy are open to the interpretation of a ten year old mind.
"Astral" Projection: Hannah's most powerful ability. She is capable of projecting a visible, ghost-like energetic signature of herself to other locations, AND, can touch objects and affect her surroundings as if she were physically present in the room, while choosing to pass through objects at will. Affecting objects(or people) in astral form is more tiring than merely observing. She retains a muted level of all 5 senses in her astral form. This power takes a tremendous amount of stamina- during projection, her physical form is completely prone, incapable of communicating or defending herself against dangers. Her astral form however, is relatively difficult to harm, as being injured or being harmed can only occur if Hannah's astral form is in physical contact with the location to which she has projected. For example. If she kicks a man in the leg, in the moment her foot connects with him, he is capable of grasping her in return. If she picks up a knife, it will cut her. Bullets on the other hand, will not touch her so long as she has not made physical contact with anything in her surroundings. Once Hannah releases contact with the object or person, she is no longer in contact with the location in question and is once again immune to physical attack. These limitations lead to the conclusion that Hannah could potentially be restrained or held against her will in astral form. Damage endured in her astral form reflects itself in internal injuries on corresponding areas of her physical body.
Fighting Skills: Hannah has been trained primarily in self-defense tactics, but has learned some offensive techniques. A combination of martial arts has allowed Hannah to avoid injury and capture in her astral form. Her size as well as long-term physical training gives her the added advantage of speed and agility, making her a very difficult target.
Weaknesses: Hannah's clairvoyant sight makes her eyes unnaturally sensitive to light and motion. Because she cannot avoid either in her daily life, she often suffers from terrible headaches. Her projection abilities, overused for a number of years, have taken their toll on her physical form. She behaves much like a child with leukemia, and has been misdiagnosed with the disease in the past- Hannah is most often fatigued, weakened, easy to bruise, and suffers from nosebleeds on occasion.
History: Little has been revealed about Hannah's parents, other than the fact that they volunteered Hannah for the program upon her birth, after it had been identified that she carried the mutant gene. Those who have lived and worked in the world of mutant or anti-mutant politics would know her name on sight- though most of them don't even know she exists.
Raised in a group home as a child, once Hannah's mutant abilities came to light a special program was created around her to explore the potential of her astral projection. She had a tutor, a doctor, and was still allowed to play with her group home siblings, but her contact with the outside world was reduced to virtually nil. She was trained from a very young age in self defense, her days consisting of lessons both academic and physical, batteries of tests on her physical form and mental state, and of course experiments involving her astral capabilities. Hannah has been told all her life that her parents can't be with her, but that they love her and know that being 'here' is what is best for her. It has been a few years since Hannah has believed that line; but she hasn't said a word.
Hannah's tutor became the closest to a mother figure she had ever known. And in spite of being carefully selected for the program, Jennifer Walters had begun to have her doubts. Still she stayed, for Hannah's sake.
As the experiments became more physically trying to the young girl and her training changed from self defense to active offense, Jennifer Walters made her decision. Late into the evening, she escaped with Hannah, knowing her card was scanned into the security system, her voice captured, her image caught on the video cameras. Still she left, leaving Hannah at the steps of the one place she hoped could protect her- the Xavier School for Higher Learning.
(I have specifically left out the name of the organization that has funded the program Hannah has been a part of; I would like anyone on the board to feel welcome to help me create that background, now or in the future, if it suits us to pursue it or if other players would like to create children from this program.)
Sample post:
Hannah knew Miss Jenny was afraid and sad. A lot afraid, a lot sad.
"Miss Jenny, it will be okay," she spoke softly as the car jetted down the freeway at speeds just beyond what was legal.
Jennifer looked at the little girl and smiled tearfully, squeezing her thin leg with her free hand as the other one turned the wheel. "I know Hannah. It's going to be great. You're going to a wonderful place." She sniffled, trying to hold back her tears until Hannah was gone.
"Then why are you afraid?"
She always seemed to forget Hannah could sense her emotions, the girl's unfading optimism belying the wisdomed she'd gained through experience. Unfair, unwarranted experience.
"Oh Hannah... it's hard to explain. People are going to be very mad at me for taking you away from..." she trailed off.
"But if I'm going to a better place, why are they mad?"
Jennifer took Hannah's hand, watching her mirrors as they stopped at a light. Her knee shook nervously.
"You listen to me Hannah. You are going to learn many things at your new school. You'll meet a lot of new people. They are all going to love you Hannah, just like I do."
Hannah watched her tutor as the streetlights crossed her face, the car zooming around a corner.
"Miss Jenny... I love you too."
