Name: Trevor Garret Montevier
Codename(s): Twitch, Brains, Smarty, etc. (In order of his preference)
Affiliation: Brotherhood
Age: 19
Height: 5’6”
Weight: 160 lbs
Hair Color: Russet Brown (matches his eyes)
Eye Color: Dark, russet brown
Appearance: Trevor is not especially handsome, and many girls would rather call him their little brother instead of their boyfriend. He has short brown hair that matches his eyes, and his average stature of 5’6” is not overly muscular. However, he is fit, as he goes running almost every morning. Moreover, it is not because he is a fitness buff. He goes for his run because it lets him get away from the Brotherhood and its members and it allows him to get some ‘quiet time’.
He likes to wear conservative clothes, but does not like the whole ‘nerd-thing.’ He prefers to wear jeans and tee shirts, with his worn leather jacket. His shoes are always sneakers or skate shoes, and he cannot stand dress shoes or slacks. He does not like sunglasses or anything that covers his eyes, because it affects his molecukinesis. He has no piercings, but he does have a tribal tattoo on his right shoulder blade. This was the outcome of Trevor’s first drinking experience with a couple of Brotherhood members. He learned from this occurrence and stays to only a few drinks when ‘out with the gang.’
Personality: Trevor has a very meek personality, never being too worked up, or leaving his reserved shell. He would rather sit in silence, watching everyone else do the talking. However, he is honest, and will usually tell the truth, especially when deciphering problems for others. He keeps his own opinions quiet, and if he does not agree with something, he will simply shake or nod his head instead of talking. Trevor has almost no temper, but when something does wind him up, he explodes, and his molecule vision automatically kicks in and he has been known to do things that he would not dare to attempt while calm.
As he is shy, he does not make friends easily, but is very loyal to those he considers his associates. He has few friends but many allies within the Brotherhood, not fully trusting them but no wanting to be on their bad side. Trevor also has a photographic memory, and can store images within his mind. His earliest memory is from when he was three, and his mom was reading ‘The Ugly Duckling’ to him.
Powers and Abilities:
*Molecukinesis
Ability to mentally manipulate molecules and objects on a molecular level. He can ‘see’ things based on their molecules, and rearrange them to a certain degree. He cannot manipulate them if he does not know what they are. However, he can still figure out what compounds the object is made of, and if it is metal, living, etc. If he does try to manipulate molecules without knowing what they are, or how they are supposed to go together, he can suffer massive amounts of twitching, convulsions, and/or unconsciousness. The effects on the world can be much worse, including explosions, destroying whatever he was trying to manipulate, etcetera. For example, if he was trying to remove particles from a rock that he did not know the compounds of, it could shatter and injure him and others around him. He can also manipulate living things, such as changing tumors back into normal cells (molecules), but there is always the chance he could kill them, or himself. Manipulating living things takes more work than manipulating a non-living object. He also twitches while using this power. He can switch between ‘normal’ vision and ‘molecule’ vision, but he has to focus more to see the molecules.
*Omnilingualism
With the Ability to decipher any language, Trevor is the perfect interpreter. He has trouble with some of the ancient or dead languages, but can still get the basic meaning of them. This power goes hand in hand his super intelligence.
*Super Intelligence
Trevor has Intelligence far above genius level. This gives him the ability to act much like a super computer. He can store, organize, and retrieve information within seconds, and can work through difficult problems within minutes. However, he is always twitching, especially his eyes, fingers and lips, when his brain is at work, hence his nickname, Twitch.
Weaknesses:
* Trevor’s molecukinesis can be dangerous, and he does not enjoy hurting others (despite being in the Brotherhood) so he tries not to experiment and try new things. This ensures he will not harm anyone accidentally, but also means he will be unlikely to learn new things.
* His super intelligence does not work while there are screeching noises around, such as squealing brakes or the screech of nails on a chalkboard. He often carries earplugs with him, so he can block out these noises while he thinks. Furthermore, his mind works best while it is silent.
* He twitches all the time, giving him the appearance of nervousness. This gave him his nickname, which has very little to do with his intelligence.
History: Trevor and his twin Tanya were born to Elaine and Roger Montevier on October 29, nineteen years ago in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. They were both darling babies, but when they reached the ago of two they began to grow apart. Trevor became more reserved and honest, the good child of the two. Tanya, on the other hand, became the rebel, and always disobeyed her parents. They also began to argue more, but on a sibling basis. They both knew that they would always be brother and sister, and that they would watch each other’s back. Therefore, they were soon ready for school, their kindergarten teacher labeling Trevor as good, but ADHD, because of his incessant twitching, and Tanya as bad, with that horrid rebellious streak. However, both were highly intelligent.
So their school life went on, each of their teachers coming to the same conclusion. It affected both of them, making Tanya all the more rebellious and Trevor more reserved. It was in grade eight that they both noticed the change. They could both start to see molecules, and it was Tanya who first started to move and change them. It started with a pencil and paper, and upgraded into desks and locks. Trevor, less enthusiastic about their new found skills, stuck with inert objects, but his twin soon moved onto organic things. They first discovered it (their new power) could heal when Tanya fell from her bike and focused hard enough that the skin molecules fell back into place. Trevor, who knew that his sister was progressing faster than he was, set about to practicing. He would sit in an empty classroom for lunch everyday and study, memorizing what every element, compound, and common substance looked like. While Tanya was out fooling around and growing up, Trevor was studying, learning, absorbing. They grew farther and farther apart, and often argued about how much time he spent alone. They would never be close again.
It was in grade eleven, when his chemistry teacher discovered his Molecukinesis. Trevor was separating the molecules in a piece of chalk, when Mr. Hendrickson walked into the chem. Lab. The teacher knew that the boy would be put to his own devices and soon had him looking for new elements, compounds and, before the accident, a cure for cancer. It was just before the end of his grade twelve year when Trevor was fed up with Mr. Hendrickson. His frustrations were funneled into a rage that took hold of his mind and body. He unwittingly killed the chem. Teacher by forcing oxygen molecules into the teachers’ bloodstream. When he woke from his rage, Mr. Hendrickson was dead on the floor, and he was weak and dizzy. It was that night that Trevor ran away, leaving Tanya, his mother and his father behind.
He lived on the streets for six months, the truth of Mr. Hendrickson’s death haunting his conscience. When he finally called Tanya, he was on the West coast, in California. He told her what had happened, and his twin ordered him to come back home to Vancouver. Trevor refused, not being able to face the city again. However, he was very family orientated and missed having a community. Therefore, when he met one of the Brotherhood members for the first time, he jumped at the chance to become part of a ‘family’, no matter how shifty the members looked. He was quickly dubbed Twitch, and his super computer brain was put to work. Only a few of the Brotherhood know of his Molecukinesis, and he fears that telling others will cause them to become a Mr. Hendrickson…
Sample post:
The morning fog was billowing across the river, and Trevor could feel the chill of fall coming into the city. Soon the leaves would be shedding their colorful leaves and snow would come. The thought of winter brought a shiver of glee to Trevor’s thin body. He and Tanya loved winter. The molecules that made up the snow were so interesting… The snowflakes were almost all made of the same things: water, various gases, and pollution-like elements. However, every flake was different, each being built differently and having its own unique personality. Like Tanya and himself. They had the same powers, the same color of hair, the same body build. The only thing different about them, physically, was that he was a boy and she was a girl. However, their personalities were so different. Trevor sighed, jogging passed the memories. He had left them; they were his past.
His brain ran through its morning cycles, logging the weather, temperature, and his mood. It was so much like a super computer, recording everything. A garbage truck the next street over screeched to a stop, and Trevor winced, his brain halting its proceedings until the squealing was over. He could not stand that sound. Neither could Tanya… Pushing himself harder, his breathes coming in ragged gasps, he let his brain do the work, organizing itself. A Chinese couple rode by him on bikes, talking furiously in their home language. To many other passerby’s, their words would be gibberish, but Trevor knew the language well. As well as all the other languages in the world. As sweat formed on his brow, he chuckled at the couple, their debate on the best type of antiperspirant hitting close to home. Turning around, Trevor began to head for his home. Or what he called a home. It was really just the homeless shelter that he frequented. Nevertheless, it was all he had right now.
Suddenly, a figure appeared in front of him, like a ghost. He skidded to a halt, his breath puffing from his thin lips, the molecules forming mist in the chilly morning. “Yes?” His words were forced, as he hated speaking to strangers. It went against his shy nature. But since this person had suddenly appeared in his path, Trevor figured that he might as well say something.
The figure just handed him a card, with two words and a phone number written on it.
THE BROTHERHOOD
There was a number underneath. When Trevor looked up, the figure was gone. Eyes wide, he stuffed the card in his pocket, looking around nervously before continuing to the shelter. The number lingered in his mind. What was the Brotherhood? Why had they given him this card?
