Name: Alex Summers
Codename(s): Havok
Affiliation: X-Men
Age: 29
Height: 6'
Weight: 180
Hair Color: blond
Eye Color: blue
Appearance: Havok clearly works out. He's prone to wearing dark suits (usually a shade of blue) that help him control his powers. Havok clearly works out, as he has an impressive set of muscles. Generally he's clean-shaven and wears his hair short. He seems to favor conservative clothing with just his head and hands showing.
Personality: Once had a strong sibling rivalry with his brother, who is now dead. Like Cyclops, Havok is a good leader, though he's somewhat more emotional than his older brother and just as stubborn. Where Scott was practical, though, Alex can be rash. He's very protective of his friends. Since his brother died his competitive streak has been tempered some, but he still doesn't like being second-best.
Powers and Abilities: Havok can create blasts that come out of his hands. Unlike Scott, can control his powers (for the most part) and can use them for more than just blasting. His powers are just as strong as Cyclops', though yellow in color instead of red.
Havok's cells absorb energy (from starlight-including the sun, x-rays, gamma rays, etc.) and converts it into plasma. The suit he wears helps him contain his powers. Like a sponge, he has a limit to the amount of energy he can absorb. After that his body starts expelling it. If he uses up all the energy he has it will take about 16 1/2 hours to charge up to 'full' again.
Normally, his body would expell plasma in all directions, but Havok can control it so that it's expelled in a given direction. However, doing so for long periods of time will exhaust him.
Havok can use his powers in a variety of ways:
Havok is immune to most forms of radiation and heat.
*It takes time and energy for him to heal. The worse the injury, the more energy it takes to heal it. if he onlt has a small amount of energy stored, for example, he has no hope of healing a fatal wound.
Weaknesses: Havok may be powerful but he's still vulnerable to psychic attacks, as well as most other things that can kill a human. (example: a bullet, falling off a building, drowning, etc.)
History:
Alex was born while his parents and older brother were on vacation in Hawaii. Obviously he wasn't old enough to remember, but that summer he and his family narrowly escaped death-by-plane-crash; they'd been late to the airport and missed their plane, which went down on its way to California. Mrs. Summers was reluctant to get on another plane but they had to get home somehow so they took the next flight.
Alex was raised in very different conditions from the tropical island on which he'd been born; Mr. Summers flew cargo planes in Alaska. Though Scott seemed to take great interest in their dad's work, Alex was more interested in what was under his feet. From the start Scott and Alex seemed to compete and/or disagree with each other over everything. That is, until Scott got his powers.
Scott couldn't control his powers, and Mr. and Mrs. Summers were among the many humans that didn't understand what their son was going through. At first his powers went off in weak sporadic bursts, breaking windows and dinner plates, once knocking over a coffee table. Alex was as afraid of him as his parents were. Then his powers got worse and they just put a blindfold on him and told anyone who asked that he had gone blind. For all intents and purposes it was true.
A little bit after that Xavier showed up. Alex was both glad and sad that Scott was going, but if he was honest more glad than the other. About a week and a half after Scott left, though, Alex started developing powers of his own. His hands started taking a yellow glow sometimes and he accidentally blew up a soda can. At first he was very scared, but he soon realised he had more control than his brother. All he had to do was sneak out at night and melt some snow in the feild about half a mile away from the house. He could even keep himself warm along the way, which also helped burn out his energy. He never told anyone, not even his parents. Things went pretty smoothly. All the way out in Alaska there weren't too many nosey neighbors, so even by the time he went to college there wasn't a soul other than him that knew.
A graduate in Geophysics and younger brother of the late Scott Summers, Alex is a smart but sometimes pigheaded man. Scott and Alex could never agree on anything growing up, and Alex was actually a little glad when Scott had to move away to New York for his 'eye problem'. Unlike Scott, Alex had pretty good control over his powers from the start, and didn't want anyone to know he was a mutant, so he didn't go off to Xavier's.
That is, until he got the call that his brother was dead. Everything changed. Alex started to regret not being close to his brother when he was alive and became more interested in Mutant Rights. After the incident on Alkatraz Alex contacted Forge and went out to New York as soon as possible. He's now a member of the X-men. Recently Havok has shown an interest in martial arts.
Sample post: Havok sat with his face in his hands in his bedroom; Scott was dead. They'd been at each other's throat since they were little and Alex wondered if it was worth it. Should they have charished their time together, just as they had been warned to do several times by wiser elders? Would things have turned out differently? Those kinds of thoughts had been plaguing him since he recieved the news. At first he'd been thrown; he couldn't believe his brother was dead. Then he felt bitter; his brother wanted to play super hero? Served him right! But those were just stages of grieving, and he reallly wished he'd progressed to feeling sad in time for the funeral. At the time he was too angry at Scott, but now he wished he would have gone. He felt bad about thinking that Scott deserved it. Maybe Scott was right. Maybe hiding wasn't going to work. Maybe it was time to call Xavier's.
