Appearance: An olive-skinned man, Adam is average looking. Square jawwed and straight nosed. His hair is straight and long enough to cover his ears. It's often combed to the side like a young scholar boy. His eyes are very expressive, able to give a sense of warmth at one moment, then burn with a cold fury the next. When he smiles, he can light up a room.
A fully ordained Catholic priest, he wears a grey suit and a black full length jacket with the roman priest collar. His hands show callouses of hard work, and his face has the beginnings of wrinkles around his eyes.
Personality: Adam is a devout Catholic and has a true love for people. But he condemns those who would harm others, and actively defends people from corrupt forces of evil. He is selfless in his actions, and does all in his power to see that the right thing is being done. Sometimes this causes him to become a vigilante. He acts as God's hand, as he calls it, but isnt frustrated when his best isnt enough. He has faith that the will of God will be realized, but he feels that as a child of God, he should help in the process.
Powers and Abilities: after surviving the experiment, he has developed the ability to control the emotions of other people. He does this by projecting his own emotions or memory of emotions into the minds of other people. Having been a catholic preist, Adam has witnessed and experienced a wide range of human emotions.
Having been a successful preacher, he also knows how to excite human emotions without the help of mutant powers. With his powers, he can amplify his results to impressive levels.
Weaknesses: Adam is just as susceptible to his own powers. He suffers from bouts of depression, anxiety, and manic attacks due to his inability to control his mutant abilities. When affecting others, he sometimes gets a taste of his own medicine.
The emotions he causes in other people only last as long as he's able to concentrate on what he wants others to feel. He often needs to verbally start people to feel the emotion he wants to elict before his powers start to work on others.
History: The Fraser family came to Guyana for mission work. Adam, being 3 at the time, only remembers a life on the edge of a rainforest.
Adam lived a normal, carefree life in Guyana until he witnessed a murder of a mutant teenager. After that, he turned to God and the church for answers. At age 21, he was ordained a priest. Since that time, he has been fighting for mutant rights, seeing them as children of God no-matter what their powers and abilities are, and have every right to a normal life as everyone else.
When he heard of Magneto and his supposed attack on the world leaders of America, he thought that Magneto was only trying to make the world more accepting towards mutants.
When the news announced mutants had been robbed of their powers via a weapon, Adam saw this as man spoiling God's gift to these special individuals. He felt Magneto was absolutely justified in his attack on the Warrington Research Fascility.
Adam heard of the mutant research center, El Dorado, and immediately sent donations toward the organization. After a few months, he decided to take further action. He felt that mutants, being shunned from most of humanity, were lost souls needing guidance. As a mutant and one of them, he'd be able to truly reach the hearts and minds of these people and hopefully bring them back to the light of God.
He knew the risks of the experiment, but had complete faith in his Lord that he'd survive. When he emerged from the test fascility a new man, his belief in God was renewed. Now he works with Erik Lensherr in hopes of having his dream of a safe world for mutants revealed.
Erik has conveniently forgotten to mention he has no regard for homo-sapiens.
Origins of Codenname: During his life as a human priest, he often gave powerful sermons. His eloquence with words and his ability to touch the hearts of many have earned him the nickname "preacher" by his fellow men of the cloth. With his new ability to move people emotionally, Adam felt his nickname was appropriate for his new mutant name.
Sample post: Adam stepped out into the outside world for the first time in over 3 weeks. The sun felt good on his face, and the humid air felt refreshing in his lungs. The metal sterility of El Dorado wasn't ideal to the man who grew up next to a rain forest.
He smiled to himself, admiring the world around him. Truly, life was God's gift to man. Today, he was going to fully appreciate this gift.
As he travelled down the dirt road, his spirits soared, higher than he ever felt before. It was if he was living the happiest moment of his life, then having that multiplied by 10.
