This is a character who will need selling by a lot of the people here. She'll be a famous singer, so all teenage characters would know of her, and have their opinion of her (do they like her music, think she's fake, or stupid, etc?), as well as some adults. If you think your character would have heard of Kelly Clarkson, they'd have heard of Alison Blaire.
Thanks!!!
Name: Alison Blaire (Dazzler)
Age: 23
Affiliation: None, as of yet.
Hair Color: Blonde
Eye Color: Blue
[glow=red,2,300]Appearance:[/glow]Alison's hair goes back and forth between being dyed golden-blonde and it's natural reddish-blonde. She even experimented with pink, which she was told had to go when she was first signed to a label. Her hair is naturally a carefree mess of waves, with bangs that fall into her line of sight perpetually.
She is usually seen after having spent hours is preparation, to her own distaste. Her skin is kept perfectly clean and clear, her eyebrows perfectly waxed, her nails perfectly coiffed. She is much more comfortably without the fuss, but sees it as a neccessary evil.
Alison can not be counted among the envied stick-figure girls of Hollywood. She has something of an hourglass figure, with hips that don't seem to go away despite her daily work-outs.
Ali has fair skin, never having been one to go tanning. She gets a bit of color in the summer, but generally her skin is light. She has blue eyes and a long, heart-shaped face.

Alison is definitely a dreamer. She always saw herself as being a big star some day and even now that she has achieved fame, she dreams of becoming more and more popular. She works very hard at honing her skills, trying new techniques, and learning many instruments. She has ambition and drive.
Ali has had little trouble getting along with her peers. She is personable and outgoing. Honestly? Very few people dislike Alison. Even those in the business who automatically begrudge her for her success have a hard time keeping that grudge once they meet her.
Despite having people willing to serve her all the time, Alison has never developed a snobby or high-maintenance attitude. The only time she ever acts that way is when she is unhappy or angry, She is down-to-earth and friendly, and has been that way since her preteen years (though she had to learn how to become much more outgoing and confident when she began to become popular).

Dazzler has the ability to convert sound to light. This encompasses a great range of frequencies, and the entire light spectrum. She absorbs the sound, and were it left unchecked, it would radiate from her at all times. Keeping it in at all times has become second nature to her, and she consciously or subconsciously has to direct it to leave her body. She can control the light's direction, color, intensity, and duration. She produce many effects with the lights, such as cascades of sparkling lights, strobe lights, or even simple shapes such as stars or hearts.
She can release the absorbed sound in one burst, causing an intense flash of light which would temporarily blind those in sight. She can also absorb sound and release it through her entire body as light, causing her form to glow with light. This would keep the bright light going for longer than the single blast.
Her lights can not only blind or confuse a victim, but can also calm them. With work, this use of soothing light patterns could be used to hypnotize people, but thus far she hasn't experimented with this.
She can explode the photons in the light, to create an effect much like that of a bomb. She has barely experimented with this at all, not seeing a pop singer's need to explode things, and currently can only produce small explosions.
She can also create a coherent beam of light, which she usually does through her eyes, which can cut through nearly any surface (adamantium, of course, being the exception). It has the same efficiency as a laser (which is 99.9%).
Once she reaches Xavier's and begins to expand her powers, she will find that she has the ability of rocket flight--only able to propel herself in a straight line by directing her blasts beneath her.
Her only defensive power is the ability to create a protective forcefield around herself (and others as long as they are very close to her) with a laser light which can deflect or vaporize oncoming projectiles.
If she's trying to disintegrate something, she'd do the force field only in the path it was coming from--She can't have like a wall of disintegrating light around her, just like a window of it, and for a short time.
But if she's keeping things away, she makes like a dome of light, which she can see out of, since light doesn't bother her, but no one can see into. Natural forces, such as fire and electricity could breach it. She can't move with the forcefield on.
[glow=red,2,300]History:[/glow]
Alison was born to Carter Blaire, who was studying to become a lawyer, and Katherine Blaire, who was a jazz singer. When baby Alison was born, Carter expected Katherine to stop singing and stay home. When it became apparent that Katherine planned to continue her career, the two began to fight often over it. Finally, Katherine divorced Carter for another man, leaving Carter to take care of their daughter, with help from Ali's grandmother, Bella.
As a teenager, Alison loved music and dreamed of becoming a professional singer. She would sing and dance to the mirror, and sang in the top choirs at school. Her father was angry with her obsession with music; he wanted Ali to go to law school and follow in his footsteps. During puberty, Alison began to experience awful headaches. Her father blamed them on the loud music she loved so much, but Alison soon found out that this was on the case.
At a high school dance, at which a karaoke competition was held, Alison took the stage to sing for the first time a song which she had written. The crowd was impressed not only by her beautiful voice, but by the marvelous lights which basked the stage in dancing colors while she sang. Alison didn't notice the lights she was creating, until the song was interrupted by gunshots. A group of gang members had entered the dance to cause trouble. The gunshots scared Ali, and her body began to glow.
When the leader of the gang drew the crowd's attention to Ali, claiming 'the broad on the stage' for himself, Alison panicked. A flash of blinding light fill the gym. The light didn't affect Ali, who stumbled through a back door. Everyone present thought that it was some kind of electricity short, but Ali knew she had caused it. She thought of herself as a freak, and never wanted to use her powers again.
In the following years, Alison joined a few different bands, but she also studied law to please her father. As she matured, she came to accept her strange light powers, and she secretly practiced controlling them. But at twenty-one, she was offered a record deal, and dropped out of school to move to NYC and pursue her dreams full-time. Her father was furious and disappointed in Alison, and he turned away from her.
Soon after moving to New York, Charles Xavier approached her about coming to his school, which he said would help her develop her skills, among many things. Though Ali liked Xavier, and the idea of his school, she declined. She still wanted nothing else but to become a famous singer.
Ali's music did relatively well, until she got a hit single and propelled to fame. A year after moving to New York, she began dating famous singer Nick Brown (think Nick Lachey). His fame helped, and her popularity grew. He introduced her to Roman Nekobah, a famed but aging singer/actor. They planned to do songs together, and soon after their first duet debuted, they were attacked by a crazed stalker of Roman's while flying in his private jet from LA to NYC. The jet crashed, and both were hospitalized.
When Alison came home from the hospital, Nick blamed her for not using the accident as free publicity. He admitted that, if he had had the idea, he would have sent the stalker after them himself. It was then that Ali saw Nick for the greedy bastard he was, and she walked out of his life.
Alison and Roman began to plan to star in a movie together, and Alison used her influential power to shape the plot of the movie. She would play a mutant schoolteacher who would fall in love with the widowed father of one of her students. The movie would show the struggles mutants face in the current world. Soon after filming began, Ali and Roman began dating, though he was more than ten years her senior.
(ooc: Much of this would be publicly available information, since she's constantly in the public eye. Decide how much your character would know. Maybe none. Maybe they're obsessed, hee hee.)
