Marie tossed and turned in her sleep, her mind not allowing her the pleasantries of a full slumber. Finally, after what seemed like years, Marie tossed the covers off of her and sat up. The southerner sighed as she got to her feet. Things had been off lately. With Mickey's powers returning and his decision to leave Marie had been feeling...jumpy to say the least. She found that her eyes were constantly glued to her hands despite them being gloved. It seemed like only yesterday she had gotten the cure and now here she was simply waiting for her powers to return.
With a small snort to herself Marie grabbed her gloves off her nightstand and moved towards the doorway. A cup of hot tea would help put her back to sleep, and hopefully put her mind at ease. It wasn't just the knowledge that the cure was temporary that was keeping her awake. There was also the fact that Rogue now knew Magneto was alive...and she had yet to call Storm or Logan and inform them yet.
"Why cahn't things ever be simple?" she murmured as she walked into the kitchen. Marie flipped on the light and moved in the direction of the stove to start the kettle. As she reached up into a cupboard to grab a tea bag her mind drifted back to the sight of Bobby on TV battered and bruised. "Great, now Ah'm never gonna sleep."
Marie clutched the tea bag in her hands and opened another cupboard to get out a cup. Everything felt wrong. Her feelings were torn between staying in Caldecott to keep her place open and returning to the X-Men. What use was her house now with everyone getting their powers back? What help could she be?
Stop it. If you keep this up you'll be up for a week. Ah'm needed here. This is mah home, as well as the home for others. Ah cahn't just close the place ahn leave 'em here. Nodding to herself Marie turned back towards the stove, her eyes widening at the sight of flames licking up over the kettle.
