better & worst angels
“Since the dawn of existence, there have always been moments when the course of history shifted. Such a turning point is upon us now.”
As the human population rejoices in their discovery of a “cure” for the mutant gene, a force has begun to build against it. Mutants are being forced to choose between ending a condition that brings them hatred and prejudice from humans, or fighting for who they truly are.
------
Amidst the serene atmosphere that haunted the region of Alkali Lake came a desire of longing. The beast confined for thirty years had been given an opportunity to break down the four walls that surrounded it. There was no outside force preventing this breakout, and it began to call out for its next victim.
“Scott,”
------
“The conflict between the better and worst angels of our very nature. Whose outcome will change our world so greatly... there will be no going back. I do not know if victory is possible.”
Such a cure meant great developments in human-mutant relations. Although claiming that it was not a mandatory vaccination, several feel threatened by this new advanced discovery. Many feel obliged to accept this cure, to improve the way the homo sapiens view the homo sapien superiors; others feel that there is in essence nothing to cure. Is it cowardice, or is indispensable to those who feel secluded in their every day lives?
Not every mutant can live at Xavier’s Institute, no matter what the cause may be.
Magneto and his Brotherhood believe that this cure will not remain voluntary, but instead be used as a weapon against all mutants. He has declared war upon those who stand against him, preaching the superiority of the mutant kind. In his vendetta he has set his sights on a dark force that is taking controlling of Jean Grey and he wants nothing more than to let her power loose against his enemies.
“I only know that great sacrifice will be required. And because the fate of many will depend on a few, we must make the last stand.”
As the final conflict between the better and worst angels of our very nature begins, where will you stand?
