The Battle of Alcatraz is over. The casualties are uncountable. So many had been killed or cured-most cured were committing suicide-that graves are still being dug three months later. Humans rarely venture out into the streets anymore, especially in New York and San Francisco. They are too afraid of what the mutants might do to them. After al they have no way of distinguishing the X-Men-the good guys-from the Brotherhood-the bad guys.
Magneto has since been expelled from the Brotherhood. He has no role in the team, and has long been forgotten since he is no longer welcome as a depowered mutant. The new leader is, of course, Callisto. She might not be as powerful of a mutant as Magneto was, but she makes up for that with her attacks and leadership. With her super speed, ability to sense mutants and Juggernaut as her right hand man, Callisto is virtually unstoppable, as is the Brotherhood of Mutants.
So what happened to Pyro, you might ask. No, he wasn’t depowered, nor was he killed by Phoenix. John Allerdyce was taken captive by none other than the X-Men. Of course, the young man certainly wasn’t happy about this arrangement; he had left this place a year ago and had no desire to come back unless it was an attack. While he was still unconscious, and after killing Phoenix, Wolverine found the boy and took him as a prisoner for information on the Brotherhood. As a previous right hand man, Pyro knew plenty, but would tell nothing. Only recently did he find out that Magneto was without powers and Callisto was the new leader. The flame thrower has been assigned numerous guards, but the main guard, with her ability to only be touched if she wants to be and walk through walls, is none other than young Kitty Pryde.
Meanwhile, Scott, better known as Cyclops, has been mourning the loss of his beloved Jean for the second time within a year. He can’t bring himself to face the fact that Jean is dead and never coming back. Scott is unable to speak to Logan, for he blames Logan for killing his lost love. Despite desperate attempts by his fellow X-Men, Cyclops refuses to leave his room and will only speak to Storm, and one of the newest X-Men recruits, Emma Frost. A spark of romance has occurred between the two, whether Scott wants to admit it or not. She can’t seem to break through his new barriers at the moment.
Some believe another battle is in the air. The Brotherhood want Pyro back and they will stop at nothing to retrieve him. The humans, unbeknownst to the rest of the world, have come up with a new cure, much more powerful than the last. They are sure that this will be the best thing for humans and mutants alike. You can believe that the Brotherhood and the X-Men know all about this new cure created on Ellis Island. The Brotherhood want to destroy the cure and the humans who created it, the X-Men want to stop anymore bloodshed. What will happen?
This is Fallen From Grace.
