Who would have ever thought that the very key to mutation, could change everyone's life as we know it? Lives change, people change, and those that are close to our hearts die. The X-Men have experienced this personally, and not even a month has passed since the direct death of Professor Charles Xavier, and Leech being brought to the safety of the mansion. Each student, and each staff member at Xavier's Institute for the Gifted has been handling the fall of their Headmaster, Charles Xavier, and their professors, Jean and Storm, in their own way. Some handling it harder than others, while some are coping rather well with their losses. The battle at Worthington Labs has definately left its mark on them all, as the only thing that they can possibly do now is try to move on, to look forward to the future and to keep Professor Xavier's dream, his cause, going for the sake of their own lives and the sake of humanity as well.
As the new school year starts bright and anew, for Xavier's Institute, the staff and the new Headmistress -- Ororo Munroe, welcomes each and every student back to the mansion with open arms if they've taken a small vacation to see their families. Beast has joined the staff at Xavier's Institute teaching Science courses, and the remaining staff, while short handed, has received help from some of the young adults of the Junior X-Team -- Bobby Drake, Piotr Rasputin, and Rogue. She's returned to the mansion, though with her mutant abilities in tact as she couldn't go through with the cure, being a mutant being who she has grown to become as a person. There are new hopes that rest within everyone's hearts as they each have worked to achieve so much. Peace is only something that they can truly hope for in this mourning period of their lives.
Ever since the fall of their leader, the Brotherhood has disbanded somewhat, their clashings within their group forcing them to all do their own things. They fight for dominance, and they fight for leadership, having lost direction in what Magneto's goals for them truly were. After the battle at Worthington Labs, a mark has been left on the ogvern ment as a whole. Beast was sought as Ambassador, though declined as he felt he had a greater duty to Xavier's Institute. The Morlocks have long since disbanded after their leader, Callisto, was killed in a battle against Storm. The members that are left wander the dark alleyways of New York, claiming the sewer as their own safehaven. They need a leader, as they know not how to lead themselves, and as such many of them have began to seek out the woman that killed their leader. The Mistress of the Elements, herself, Storm.
Behind closed doors, the government has grown somewhat silent as of late. Though their scheme of purging the world of it's "mutant problem" is never ending. There are rumors that have been slowly, and surely, rising to the surface pertaining to an exotic island known as Genosha. It is believed that this island is a mutant paradise, a home away from home, for mutants of all sort of backgrounds and creeds, yet there is something slightly off about the disappearances that have been happening around the world. While the humans sum up the missing mutants reports as justice long overdue, the mutant community is growing weary as they feel the government is back to their old tricks. Though one thing can be certain about this supposed "disappearances", no one will be prepared for the secrets that Genosha Island has buried away in haunted depths.
Mutant Safety will, once again, be jeopardized. Who knows what the outcome of this may be in the end.
