She had escorted Maggott downstairs with Logan and Chamber, the former and her brother Bandero taking over from there. She was happy to leave it at that, not knowing what to do or how to help with a dead body and its possible murderer.
But the pulse she had sensed from the place the body rested nagged at her mind. What had been there? Was there something that might help the investigation that only she could pick up on
Rayen resolved to go check, and ran by her room to grab aflashlight. The woods were dense in that portion of the property, andthe batteries would give her a bit of current to draw off of in a pinch.
No one was out back as she stepped onto the lawn, half running over to the tree line. She turned the flashlight on, and stepped nearly silently through the trees.
She could hear it again. That faint buzz, the telltale hum of an electric signature of some kind. It seemed free in the air. She’d only felt that sort of pattern when a power line had been down. Fortunately, a downed line wouldn’t hurt her, so she continued on.
A few minutes search rendered nothing, and she was trying to be careful not to disturb any physical evidence. The signature became stronger, and began to move about. Rayen’s heart sped up with excitement.
Closing her eyes, she concentrated on the movement. It slowly began to rotate around her in a slightly elliptical pattern. It was reacting to her mutation. Incredible!
Taking a deep breath, Rayen pulled her own electrical signature inward. Inside the building, this would have pulled current straight out lightsockets towards her. In the woods, there shouldn’t have been any similar source of voltage.
And she was right.
Rayen blacked out almost as soon as the pulse collided with her chest- she could feel the wave radiate throughout her body, out to the tips of her fingers, her toes. As the kinetic field in a hundred foot radius rippled, a whomping sound echoed through the trees, cracking the windowpanes on the side of the house nearest to her.
Conduit crumpled to the forest floor.
(ooc: this thread does not need immediate attention; if you would like your character to find Rayen and you have the time free, great, I’d love the rp. If not, she will wake eventually. )
