Logan walked through the grass, taking a moment to enjoy the warm summer breeze which blew his over shirt around easily... it was very serene on the campus today. Still, the young man he was looking for seemed very reflective as he sat on a stone outdoor table. The African was clearly as lost in the clouds as Logan would've liked to have been... but Logan had business.
He had immense respect for the variety of abilities that the kid had, but even more for the courage he displayed in the forest fighting along side them against Sabertooth. He showed real heart, and a dedication to what he felt was right. He'd make a perfect X-Man. Honestly, Logan considered simply offering him a job right on board – but in a fashion it'd be unfair to the other trainees, and Logan was unsure how well Maggott knew how to handle his powers. He knew he was brave, but bravery can't quite equal intense training. Who knew, though, maybe Maggot was ex-military - even if he was awfully young.
"Hey there." He said, walking up to the sitting mutant. "Good to see you got patched up fine. You showed real balls out there, kid. I'm impressed."
Logan didn't hand out compliments often... but it was the least the kid deserved.
Maggott looked up as Logan approached. He looked back at the forest, where he had been staring for the last hour or more. He wasn't wearing a watch today and had lost track of time - he seemed to be doing it a lot lately. He was wearing the X branded hoodie and sweatpants they had given him after being released from the medical lab. The Foley kid did wonders for him, he really thought he was never going to wake up after he went unconcious in the woods.
"Thanks, bru," he replied, looking back at him. His stomach rumbled with the girls' movements, and he knew he had to eat soon. But every day he found it hard to go back into the forest, knowing that they hadn't really stopped Sabretooth after all. Wolverine had warned him of this after he woke up in the medical lab, and he'd smiled and said Sabretooth would be too busy learning to write and yank off with his other hand now to come back to the school. But he wasn't so sure.
"And I never thanked ya for saving my ass in the woods there." He nodded to the forest. "So...thank ya, bru." He smiled.
Logan grinned, and sat next to him on the table. "Don't worry 'bout it, bub. I owed that hairy sonofabitch one anyway... besides, God knows what you two foiled for Sabertooth. He could've been planning anything."
He looked out to the treeline.
"It's good now, though. Forge has had Angel set up a pretty impressive electronic security perimeter. Anyone comes within two miles of the school and Forge will know."
He looked back at Maggott.
"I wanted you to know that you really impressed me out there, kid. You showed real heart - the kind you can't learn from a book or in a classroom. I actually came out here to see if you wanted to work towards being an X-Man."
Maggott's face lit up like the sun coming out from behind a cloud. "Don't be just charfing me, Wolverine." Maggott glanced down at his skin as the blue began slipping away and returned to his usual dark hazel color. "That's exactly what I came here for. Seeing Xavier would have been lekker, but with his death, being an X-Man is all I want." A wide grin broke across his face.
He took the sunglasses from his eyes and tucked them in the pocket of his hoodie. He extended his hand to Wolverine, still smiling widely, his bright teeth flashing. "Shot, bru."
Logan gripped his hand with a firm shake, and nodded his head. This was good news. Hopefully the rest of the recruiting day would go so easily.
"Well, hope you don't mind training. It's going to take a bit before you become a full on X-Men, but seems like you're already half way there."
Standing, the Wolverine took a few steps off and half turned back.
"It's good to know you're on board." he said truthfully. "Training's going to begin in the next few days. I'll let you know."
As Wolverine began to walk away once more, Maggott called after him.
"Logan...It'd be lekker...great...if you didn't tell anyone where my girls come from. I don't want anyone to know."
Logan nodded, completely understanding how he felt. "Remember that I'm an old man that's monolingual, and we've got a deal."
