I just picked up X3 and decided to read the end of it (I've highlighted everything abotu Bobby and every other awesome part), and there are a couple parts that build relationships between a few characters and stuff that I wanted to post, since I know most people aren't lame enough to get the book like I am.
Here's one of the best, it's all for you, Kay!
Right after Warren shows up at the school, after the scene cuts in the movie, Ororo tells Bobby to show Warren to a room. Then it says:
'Upstairs, a little later, Bobby ushered Warren into a room.
"Might not be what you're used to," he semiapologized.
"It's perfect," Warren assured him.
"Yeah," Bobby nodded, comprehending the multiple meanings. "No parents."
With just those few words, they made a connection. And from it, Bobby intuited at once that Warren had a lot to process, work best done in private. Telling the new arrival he'd give a yell at dinnertime, Bobby stepped out into the hall to leave the boy alone.'
(ooc: Then he turns and sees the beauty of Warren's wings)
'With that sight came the obvious code name for so glorious a creature. "Welcome to Xavier's," Bobby breathed, "Angel!"
Okay, so Bobby sounds like he's majorly crushing on Warren. It's still an 'awwww!' moment.
Also, the Kitty/Bobby ice skating thing was a little less romance and a little more coping with tragedy than the movie made it seem. I really like this excerpt:
"Bobby didn't say a word. He didn't have to--She'd seen him skate. He was beyond gold in skill, he was platinum.
Tonight, though, he showed none of that grace and flamboyance. Instead he made plain that tonight was all about her, and she loved him for it. They skated around the little pond, and they talked. As time gradually passed, the sorrow began to give way just a little. They weren't up for laughter yet, but the ache inside wasn't quite as bad."
Now I just have to share that on page 220 of the X3 book, Logan's response to first seeing Hank in his outdated X-Men uniform from his good old days is as follows:
"Christ on a cracker!"
LMAO!!! That kills me.
And about Bobby's nakedness:
So his leather uniform starts shattering when he turns to ice.
"He didn't want to think about what was coming when his pants shattered. If this was the way his power was going to manifest itself from here on, they were definently going to have to find him at the very least a set of cold-resistant briefs."
Then later, he comes out of the dust carrying John (yes, I know that Juggs got him out in the movie), his ice shell starts breaking and by the time he catches up to Kitty he's butt naked, blushing bright red. Then it says:
"Angel saw Iceman's predicament from overhead and later made himself a friend for life by finding Bobby a pair of pants."
Hee hee okay I'm bored. Maybe more later. This is what happens when NOBODY ELSE IS ONLINE!!!
