Soak Up The Sun [tag: Maggott]

[Jubilee]

Madonna music played from a boombox on the patio surrounding the pool. It was near Jubilee's head as she lay on her back and catnapped in the sun.

She didn't really care about tanning, but she'd been swimming and the sun had felt so good that she'd laid out a towel and stretched out beside the pool. Her hair was up in a clip, so only the back of the top and bottom of her two-piece swimsuit would block any part of her skin.

Eany and Meany slithered quietly around the lounging girl, eyeing the various delicious treats she had around her. Meany nuck up as close as she could and touched the hair clip on the back of the girl's head, giving it a small taste before the inevitable chomp.

Before Meany could take a bite, however, Eany started in on a meal of her own, quickly gnawing off the metal leg of a pool chair and sending it crashing to the concrete.

[Jubilee]

The crash send Jubilee flying up, head turning wildly around to find the source of the noise. Just as soon as she saw the metal slug by the now-overturned pool chair, she spotted the second directly beside where her head had been.

"AAAAUGHH!!!"

She vaulted to her feet, half-expecting the slug to lunge at her. Unfortunately, she stepped back on the very edge of the pool. Her arms waved madly in an attempt to regain her balance, but it was in vain (ridiculous-looking vain). She went careening backwards into the pool, a resounding splash sounding as she went under.

Maggott heard a scream as he rounded the corner of the back of the mansion, and turned around the building just in time to see Jubilee collapse into the water.

He rushed over and pointed a finger at the slugs.

"Oy, girls! You know better than this!"

[Jubilee]

When Jubilee surfaced, she pawed her hair out of her eyes and looked around. She located Maggott and immediately started in on him. "D'you MIND?!" she screeched dramatically. "Can't you keep those things on a LEASH?! They tried to bite my face off!!!"

She tread over to the edge of the pool - a good twenty feet away from where Maggot and his shiny slugs of death were - glaring all the while. She knew of Maggott, had been around him some in the few weeks since she'd returned to the school, but they'd never talked a lot. So he might have known that her screeching was more dramatic than she actually felt, but he might not have.

"Can't you keep those things on a LEASH?! They tried to bite my face off!!!"

Maggott laughed loudly as Jubilee yelled at him, unable to control himself. The girls noticed he had arrived and eagerly jumped into his arms, nuzzling his chest.

"I doubt that, luv, otherwise you'd be right faceless," he said, his laughter held in check but still creasing his face in a huge grin.

[Jubilee]

Jubilee glared at him and his smart remark, and the fact that he didn't seem at all phased by her near-death experience. "Well, you should your eyeballs on them 'round-the-clock if they decide to make innocent bystanders their afternoon snack," she said, her voice holding considerably less venom now as she hesitantly made her way around the pool towards her stuff, watching the little robot rats as though she expected them to fly through the air and latch onto her next.

[Maggott]

"Well, you should your eyeballs on them 'round-the-clock if they decide to make innocent bystanders their afternoon snack."

"Oh, I do my best, girly, but these little angels just give me the slip sometimes," Maggott said. He shrugged and spread his hands, indicating that he in no way actually meant the words he said.

Eany and Meany slithered up to Maggott's shoulders as he walked to the edge of the pool. Bending down, he extended a hand to the soaked student.

"I really am sorry, my kanala, they don't mean to be such a mission."

[Jubilee]

Jubilee eyed the slugs on Maggott's shoulders for a moment before reached up to grab his hand. Her other arm helped hoist her out of the pool, and she stood, quickly dropping his arm so the metal monsters couldn't slide down them and onto her skin like she was some kind of walking buffet line.

"Dude. Do they really eat human?" she asked, her usually narrow eyes wide and unblinking.

"So...what do they do besides run around going postal on innocent sunbathers?" She huffed - again, her unhappiness exaggerrated if not feigned entirely. She wiped her black bangs out of her face and started toward her towel.

[Maggott]

"Dude. Do they really eat human?"

Maggott's smile didn't waver, but his mind turned to unpleasant thoughts of a time not so long ago and what he and the girls did for men with dead eyes and ugly grins.

"No, luv, they'd never eat a pretty girl like you."

"So...what do they do besides run around going postal on innocent sunbathers?"

"Oh, you know...lots of delightful and adorable things like knocking girls into pools."

Maggott wasn't ready to open up about what his girl's did exactly, especially not his complete reliance on them.

"I heard from Alani that your power's a lank rave too," he said, shifting the subject. "Can I check?"
