Oh… my… God.
Forge was completely dumbfounded, and journeyed through the halls in a daze. It felt as if he were floating, and somewhere in the back of his mind he noted that this was what true elation was. This was true contentment. This was… amazing.
Xavier’s Institute, on the outside, was a well kept, pricey, and attractive estate. Down here, though, it was a bloody technological playground. Steel walls, built in computer systems, bulkheads – it looked more like the set from a sci-fi movie than a school. Here, in the X-Men head-quarters, was the closest thing to heaven on Earth Forge had ever found.
The place was positively littered with military level technology. The computer system alone was an impressive piece of hardware, truly original and cutting edge. Forge thought he was right in assuming that Xavier’s money was truly invested in state of the art tech, probably stuff only ownable with very expensive, very hard to come by permits. Hank must have worked his fingers raw in this place to keep it running – it was no wonder he was very insistent at having Forge be a live-in here.
After he was shown to his room, and dropped off his things, he had immediately begun to look around. Now he found himself wandering the halls, running a hand along the wall and sending his consciousness into it as he did so. He stopped at every piece of technology he found and merged with it, examining it thoroughly in a manner of seconds.
His password code-key, given by McCoy and Professor X, seemed to work on every door he’d come across. Of course, even if there was one it didn’t work on, he could have entered his consciousness into it and hacked it from the inside – but he doubted it would’ve been easy work. This place was nearly impenetrable, if defended correctly, and that included electronic espionage.
After exploring for quite a bit his photographic memory was working overtime, absorbing all of the new versions of technology he was coming across. His own tech business was quite lucrative, but the X-estate had tech in it that could get your arrested. Easily. And Forge hadn’t had contact with much of it before.
