Candice actually enjoyed the brief break, talking with Kitty (a student who was very good, and could have been used as an example for the others) and the new guy. Unfortunately, she took the time to explain to him the ins and outs of the school – and the requirements of admission (the paperwork, not any fee, because there was none to kids who could not afford it.)
She finished eating her club sandwich, and smiled at him. “Do you think Xavier's is the place for you? Not only do we provide an environment friendly towards any type of mutant, but we also have X-Men on staff who help our students advance and control their mutations.”

Angelo sat there listening to her talk, desperately trying to focus on her voice instead of letting his mind wander, but it was all sorts of technical information about the school and admission and sceduling and classes, everything that he had been thrilled to leave behind when he left high school. It was even making it hard for him to eat; all the talk about classes was making him lose his appetite.
And then she was finishing off the last bite of her sandwich and asking him questions. He looked at her with an unimpressed expression. "An hour ago you had giant robots breaking down your door. Where I come from, we don't exactly call that environment friendly."

Kitty felt a rush of school spirit and quickly wiped a tiny droplet of Cesar salad dressing from the corner of her mouth. While one of the fattiest liquids on the planet, it was also one of the most delicious.
"No, it's almost never like that," she said sincerely. "I mean. Lately, after the whole Baltimore... ordeal... and after Alcatraz for a while with reporters and stuff, but other than that it's just like a boarding school. And it's so much better than other places, at least for us. I mean, maybe we had robots in the lawn today, but it's better than getting the crazy look from everyone at a normal school for being like us, isn't it?"
