Alani slid the third briefcase out from underneath her bed. She had already filled two solely with clothes and this third one would finally finish off her summertime wardrobe. Alani didn't often fall into girlish routines, loving "tomboy" activities more, but she was still a girl, and her extensive love of clothes wasn't impeded by her love of sports.
But clothes or sports were the last things on her mind at that moment, as she began filling the third suitcase. She didn't know where Sam was - her roommate had seemed distant and angry, even for her - and she was sad that she wasn't here to say goodbye.
Or not "goodbye", but maybe "see you later"? She frowned. She really hadn't made as many friends here in her first year as she had hoped. And there was one friend in particular whom she really wanted to say goodbye to - No, "see you later" to - Liam.
