"Stop, I can't stop, stop, I can't stop, I got liiightning striiiking again!"
It had been forever since he'd heard that song. But coming out of his room, it had been playing from the room across the hall again, and it had been stuck in Bobby's head as he walked from the boy's dorms, across the walkway over the front door, to the girl's dorms wing. He was on his way to Kitty's room, and singing the song under his breath, in a funnily high screech.
There were a couple people in the halls, going in and out of rooms, or just walking, as he was, and Bobby didn't pay them much mind. He was feeling slightly less down than he had the day before, and he was going to take advantage of it while he could. Thus, he shimmied a bit from side to side as he made his way down the hall.

Rogue had just opened the door to her room and stepped out into the hallway as Bobby passed by shimmying and singing...off key. A smile flitted onto her lips. It had been so long since she had seen Bobby that it was almost fitting that she would come across him being his old self. It was nice to see that some things hadn't changed while she had been away, although Rogue supposed she had missed out on a lot anyway.
Tilting her head to one side the southerner decided to interrupt Bobby's good natured fun and get an actual welcome home from him first. "Ya know, Ah cahn honestly say Ah've never heard anyone sing quite like that before...or dance like that either. Is this what y'all are teachin' the new recruits? 'Cause if so Ah think Ah'll take a raincheck ohn the next session in the Danger Room."

In the first few moments that Rogue's voice filled the hallway, Bobby stopped singing and dancing abruptly and whirled around. Even before her saw her, he was torn between wondering if she was really there and thinking he was crazy. Of course she wasn't there, he hadn't seen her in forever, she wasn't--
And there she stood, much the same as she had looked when he had last seen her. He seemed shocked, and it wasn't a sure thing whether or not he was listening to what she was saying as he took slow steps toward her, his eyes wide, and his mouth slightly agape.
"Rogue? What - what...I didn't know you were here - when did you get..."
Bobby trailed off as his eyes roamed around her face. He was at a loss for words - he'd all but given up on thinking that he'd ever see her again. "Welcome back," was all he could come up with, and then he continued to stare, his jaw hanging open in a way that was so pronounced it was comical.

Rogue felt an eyebrow raise in amusement at the look on Bobby's face. Obviously he didn't know how to react, and for some reason the southerner found it quite funny. Of everything she remembered about the guy standing in front of her she had never before seen him speechless. This was Bobby Drake after all. He always had something to say.
Her head lowered with a chuckle as her eyes fastened on the floor for a few minutes. His mouth gaping open made her wish she had thought to find her camera and carry it around re-greeting people after being away so long. Rogue had a feeling this would be somewhat of the norm for the next couple of days until she had seen everyone and anyone staying at the mansion.
"Really, now, Bobby, is that anyway ta greet an old friend?" teased Rogue, her green eyes sparkling as she glanced up at her friend once more. "Ah got in not long ago...ahn ya don't really hafta ask why, do ya?" She raised her gloved hands into the air, figuring that he would eventually remember what they stood for--not unless she had completely fried his brain by surprising him like she had.

She was so...happy. Which wasn't weird, really, she'd always been an upbeat girl, but somehow he'd expected their meeting (though he'd begun to stop expecting to ever see her again) to be more serious. He was glad that it wasn't, though, very glad.
Though her happiness became a bit more difficult to understand as she held up her hand...her gloved hand. The smile that had been so contagious, and had slipped from Rogue's face to Bobby's as well, faded from his eyes. It remained on his lips, but his eyes moved to hers with a concerned look that said that he was about to search her face for any emotions she might be having regarding the statement. Because though she was playing it off well, he knew that it was a loaded subject.
"Your powers came back," he said, stating the obvious. He'd had the feeling, long ago, that that was the most likely way she'd ever return to the school. He'd never wished it on her, never in a million years would he have wished anything on her that was anything but what she wanted. But he couldn't help but wish she'd come back, no matter what the circumstances.
Then months had passed, and he'd very slowly begun to heal. He'd still yet to get completely over her, as was evident in his relationship with the bold, confident, Southern Paige Guthrie, which had ended just about a week earlier. Which, as she'd just the day before, was still very much on his mind.
He didn't see stars or fireworks as he looked at Rogue for the first time in so long. Things were slightly awkward, in his opinion, but mostly he just felt relieved to see her again. He realized that it was like meeting an old friend that he'd so hoped he would see again, rather than an ex-girlfriend. After all, he and Rogue had always been very close friends, before and during their relationship.
