When they had entered the Professor's old office and closed the door behind them, Storm gave Forge a nod to sit down if he wanted. She turned to the window behind her desk, and hit one of the (surprisingly few) buttons on her phone. She waited as it rang.
"Logan, hi!" Thank goodness he had picked up. "It's Storm - Ororo." She corrected herself, remembering with amusement his contempt for their codenames. 'Wheels' had been his suggestion for the Professor. Not a bad one, really.
"I hope you've been doing well. Not gotten into too much trouble?"
"So where are you right now?"
A smile spread across her face. "That's great," and more quietly, "I wish it were a better time..." He was visiting Marie. She would have loved to pay a visit to Rogue, and her house... But at this point there was no way they could stay if they came to pick Logan up.
"Of course I have a reason for calling." She was unsure of how to break news of a mission to him. She remembered his pep talk before Alcatraz, and the strange animalistic rush he seemed to get during a fight - but the last fight had not ended well. She wasn't sure he would want to revisit that kind of adrenaline.
But she had to try. "There is a problem in Baltimore that we need your help with."
"The cure still exists -" she skirted mentioning Worthington or Alcatraz directly - "in the hands of a company called NovaTeX. Their Baltimore branch will be distributing it beginning in four days. We're almost certain that the Brotherhood will show up."
"They've rebuilt their ranks, Logan. Pyro's leading them now."
"There are so many innocent people who will be lining up, protesting - we have to help them. The catch is, the government has a new anti-mutant weapon - would you believe, they look a lot like the robot you decapitated in the Danger Room." She smiled, even though he couldn't see it over the phone. "You did that once, you could do it again. Will you come with us, Logan?"
She breathed a sigh of relief and looked up at Forge with a little nod. Another smile spread across her face.
"We'll see you in a few hours."
