Finally Forge had wondered into the Danger Room control center. At first he couldn’t really believe what his senses were telling him, and actually dismissed the idea altogether. Then the mirage refused to fade, and he finally began to comprehend. The X-Men had a holodeck! The implications of this technology were staggering, and Forge actually stood in stunned silence for over a minute.
Finally, he planted his hands on the control panel, and sent his mind into the machine.
At first he simply noted everything, using the speed of his thought to analyze the machine and it’s software, breaking it down to a schematic and strings of programming code, all of which he was storing neatly into his brain. The machine was advanced, and he sat in the seat entranced, eyes rapidly moving from left to right, as if he were reading. The process took six minutes and forty seven seconds, which seemed like hours to Forge. When he was done, he broke contact with a sigh, and brought a hand to his head.
Leaning back in the chair, he closed his eyes for a minute.
I’ve got to slow down… this may be too much to handle for one day. Just take it easy tiger, these thing’s aren't going anywhere.
He glanced over at the computer, and his eyebrows furrowed.
Okay, just one more thing.
As he assumed, the computer was linked to the X-Men primary intranet, and was part of the super-computer that was housed deep in the core of the establishment. Forge sent himself into the cyberspacial mind of this mainframe, and began to swim around…
It’s defenses were awe inspiring – probably the best he’d ever seen in a non-military setting, hell, probably the best including the military settings… but he knew he could do better. Utilizing his minor electrokenesis, he linked with the database and began to manipulate its programming on a physical level. It took him a while to bypass the defenses, but he did nothing once he had done so but buff them with additional programming of his own design. He went about the arduous task of enhancing the defensive barriers of the central computer core.
Sweat began to bead on his forehead, and his eyebrows furrowed to the point where he seemed to be scowling.

When Forge had finally finished installing his own defensive re-writes to the computers mainframe, he felt as if he’d run a marathon. The idea that some asshole hacker could be out there trying to break into one of the world’s most important computers was quite disturbing to him, and it gave him a sense of urgency towards making sure the thing was a safe as humanly possible. If there was a hacker alive who could crack through the barriers that Forge had just put in place, said hacker would have to be a mutant of some variety. Forge winced internally at the idea of a mutant who could send his whole essence into cyberspace, and reap havoc everywhere.
He sat there for a minute, breathing heavily, and finally managed to pull himself out of the chair, and towards the door.
Forge was thinking about what Bobby said, and about how he may be able to help the guy. He didn’t exactly want to go hacking around in some other students private emails, but if he did decide to do so, he’d make sure not to read anything save for introductory names.
You’re not actually considering doing that, are you? First day on the job, and already planning on breaking how many rules?
He sighed in a resigned fashion, and shrugged.
Yeah, I think I am. The kid is obviously in need of someone to help him. He just wants to know that his girl is alright, is that so hard to do? Why is that such a crime? Screw it. I’ll do it. I need some rest first, but I think I’ll do it.

Although Sid Gaerlom thought himself a god of sorts, there were alot of things in this world he had no idea about. So while he could easily maneuver through a dense jungle, electronics had no place in his memory, and therefore the Danger Room's true purpose eluded him. They had told him already what its purpose was for, of course, but as he punched in his code and the doors opened, all he saw was a very large room and nothing in the way of training materials. Except perhaps the man who seemed to be leaving.
"Hola, senor. Are you the Danger Room trainer?" Sy asked as the man neared, assuming it was this guy that they fought for training. Didn't really seem fair, putting a bunch of gods against this single man, but then again, he might be a strong god than any of them. The term "mutant" wasn't in Sy's vocabulary.

Forge was so lost in thought, the danger room door sliding open caused him to jump in shock. He shook his head clear just as the lanky, completely bald man strode into the room, emitting the air of either royalty or some other great leader. Immediately Forge took him for an X-Man, considering his presence here and the pride with which he carried himself.
"Hola, senor. Are you the Danger Room trainer?"
The what? Oh.
“Well, after today, probably. The Room doesn’t really need an operator though. You just need to know how to set the controls. I’ll be designing some special programming for anyone who needs it, as well some ideas that have already began to pop up in my head.”
Forge’s face took on a look of pure fascination, and he spun around and walked back to the computer terminal. Putting a hand on it, he continued.
“Okay, so I’ve at least got to show SOMEONE what I’m up too. Check this out.”
He was completely unaware that Sy had never been in the Danger Room, and simply assumed that the mutant had mistaken him for the operator.
At his thoughts, the Danger Room battle floor immediately began to take shape. Holographic images sprang up, altering the interior of the room suddenly. Spinning into its full scope and shape, the glittering blue electrons materialized into the gambling floor of a large casino. All of the lights and noise of Vegas were there, instantly, as well as normal humans milling around gambling in droves. Even Forge was impressed at the level of quality these images displayed – this technology was far beyond anything he’d ever experienced, yet now it was a part of him like any other.
“This is going to be an awesome Scenerio…”

As Forge began talking most of what he said went over Sy's head. His eyes were beginning to glaze over with incomprehension as the man turned, put his hand on the computer, and suddenly the images sprang up around them both, of something equally alien to the boy - Las Vegas.
Sy dodged a hologram human and ducked down halfway, eyes wide and head moving this way and that to catch the scene around him. This Forge was obviously a greater god than he, making whole rooms turn into different places, and Sy took back his previous assumption of 'poor man'. He stood up slowly, reaching out and poking another holo-human who walked past him. "Yeah?" the man asked and turned to look at Sy. "Um, sorry senor," the bald kid replied before turning to look at Forge.
"This is your power?"

"This is your power?"
“uhhh… in a fashion. If you mean do I have the capability of controlling technology, and producing gnarly results, then yeah. If you mean am I some sort of illusionist that has created this reality, no. This reality was created by a machine – the Danger Room computer. I just controlled the computer, and modified it. I’m a technician, it’s what I do.”
Forge looked around at his simulation, realizing that the basic goodness of it may be lost on someone who’s never done the Danger Room before, and shut it off. The people and background fizzled away with an electronic static, and were gone.
“So I take it you’ve never been in the Danger Room before. Essentially we use the computer here to replicate real problems, and the X-Men beat the crap out of them. Are you an X-Man, or a student here?”

Sy flinched back from the hologram slightly as it disappeared, wondering where all the people went when this man fizzled them into the air. Letting his eyes search the large room, he tried to digest the information he'd been handed and found it difficult. Lightswitches confused him to no end - the Danger Room made his head hurt. A new well of hatred towards his parents sprung up as he realized once again how unprepared he was for the world, despite his god-like powers.
Are you an X-Man, or a student here?”
Shrugging, Sy turned back to the man. "Neither, I suppose. I guess they would call me a student, senor, for I have no education other than that of the Good Book." He sneered as he said it, showing his dislike of such education.
"You are one of the X-men then?"

“Yeah, yeah I suppose I am. Though I'm new. Just showed up tonight, but I'm an X-Man. More like an X-Maintenance man, by the look of things, but still an X-Man.” Forge said, pride creeping into his voice despite his attempt to sound exasperated at the notion. “Let's beat this room, man, I'm going down. I think I'll need some sleep soon.”
Forge began to stroll out of the Danger Room, hoping that the young man would follow. The fellow seemed out of place somehow, and surprised at technology. He guessed that maybe he was raised in a country devoid of tech, especially HI-tech, like the Danger Room. He mused that most places on earth were devoid of tech this advanced.
“So what's your name, partner? They call me Forge – on account of my knack for building and repairing technology. Oh, and you now know my special gift – what's your mutant ability?”

Sy took one last look around the strange room before following quickly behind the other. The Danger Room was probably called that for a reason, and he didn't feel like being in danger he didn't understand right now.
"Posiedon... Sy," the bald kid nodded to the other. "My gift," he stressed the word, not wanting to share any part of the mutant connotation, "is of el mar, the sea. He rolled back one sleeve, exposing the green nematocytes and held his hand out until the acid built up on his skin and dripped to the ground, sizzling on the stainless steel floor but not leaving any noticable mark. These X-people really knew what they were doing when they built the lower levels of this mansion - he couldn't harm a thing below ground here.
"My sweat burns through most materials, and the hairs give off a frightful sting," he explained as he rolled his sleeve back down, the edges of it melting away a bit as it touched the left-over enzyme on his hand.

“Poseidon eh?” Forge said, and nodded with a grin. “Beats the hell outta Aqua-Man, that’s for sure. I like it. Maybe I should’ve went with Hephaestus.”
He nodded and listened to Sy’s power description as they headed down the long steel hallway, nearing where Forge would set up shop (and bunk) in the X-Mansion’s sub-basement. He stopped by the door to his room by the time Sy was finished.
“This is me, I think it’s time for me to turn in… I can barely stay on my feet. Used my power way too much tonight. So, any idea how long your sweat stays active? I mean, how long until it becomes Inert? Could we bottle it?”
(ooc – you could have Sy answer that, and then we can part ways for the night – I’m not going to be posting much today, and we should get the next day coming soon)

He was the second person to mention this apperantly "lame" Aqua-man, and Sy was glad everyone was in agreement that he himself was not as "lame". From what he understood, lame was not something he wanted to be.
"Bottle it?" The idea had never occured to Sy before, having the enzyme at his disposal whenever he needed it. "I don't know, honestly. I've never had reason to bottle it before..." he looked back towards the floor where the spots that had dropped were still sizzling away, trying in vain to have an effect on the stainless steel. "I guess it stays reactive for a good long while. Maybe we could try that tommorrow."
He shrugged to himself as he turned back, "I'll let you take your siesta. Ciao." Without waiting for an answer he left towards the elevator (another device that blew his mind everytime the doors opened onto a new place) to find his way to his room.
