“Again, this is Mark Grain on the scene here just a few blocks away from- wait a minute – that’s one of the X-Men! Get a shot of this!”
The reporter raced across the street, cameraman in tow, as Wolverine rushed around a police barricade, Forge in his arms. He was completely covered in blood, and earned a fair share of blank stares from the stunned crowd that had gathered here on the outskirts of the battle.
“Mr… uhh…” The reporter shouted, lost on the name.
“WOLVERINE, bro! that’s fuckin’ Wolverine!” Some screaming teenager cheered from the sidelines.
“Mr. Wolverine, can we get your comments on-” the reporter tried again, only to get a hand to his face, shoving him out of the way.
“you can get the hell outta my way, bub.” Wolverine replied, and dashed towards a waiting Ambulance – it’s operators sitting idly by for the barricade to open, until they spotted him. X-Man be damned, their training took over and they immediately prepped a stretcher, one of them barking orders to the others. They helped Logan put Forge on the stretcher, and began to do what they could to help him.
“We’re coming with, guys.” Wolverine said, not a question at all in his voice.
The paramedics looked at each other, and then back at him. One swallowed hard, the other simply nodded. “Yessir,” He said.
Then from blocks behind them, a great explosion rumbled the city streets… Logan turned, seeing a plume of ash and dust rushing like a fog towards the crowd.
“What in the…” He tapped his communicator.
