A few hours after he'd taken off, The Guardian landed on the rooftop of his apartment. The call had been pretty typical, shots fired, high speed chase. He'd taken the car down by lifting the back of it. The real-wheel drive pretty much ended that whole mess... he lost count of how many bullets were pumped into his forcefield with no affect.
Now he was back, and it took him a few moments to go get changed. Finally, he knocked on Maddy's door.
He thought his news would go over well with her.

The television nattered at her about the latest celebrity gossip, but Maddie had barely even noticed it was on for a good hour or more. Should have turned it off, but she'd been too occupied with her book.
The knock on the door was greeted with a quick mental check to see who it was and then the door opened itself. She stayed on the couch, one finger twirling in her hair, her eyes still trained on the book.
God, but Washington was boring. She hadn't actually read a book in months before now. She'd had to go down to the newsagent at the end of the street to get it, although she was thinking about amusing herself with a trip to a real bookstore in the next couple of days. Anything to occupy her for a few hours.
The trashy romance novel wasn't doing too badly, though. Except for the fact that Maddie had nothing but scorn for the heroine's creativity in the bedroom.
"How was it?" She didn't look up.

“Awesome as usual.” Guardian said earnestly, and strolled into the apartment – the door shutting behind him.
He took a seat opposite Maddy, and stretched his feet out in front of him, crossing them at the ankles.
“So. I want to move shop to New York. I want to still be guardian here, but there too. I can fly fast enough to travel between the two in ten minutes or so... I know, I tried it out today.”
He watched the expression on her face.
“I figure we could move out there, similar set up – apartments near one another. I could even lead a somewhat ordinary life around town. Maybe I'll work on a disguise... fake beard, perhaps?” He grinned.

"Mmm, add a fake afro and I think you should be able to get away with it." Finally she put down her book and looked up at him.
"You know I'd like to go to New York." It wasn't exactly secret that Madelyne was bored in Washington. Of course, the problem with New York was the proximity of the X-Men - from all reports, that was where they were based. Which could make for interesting times, particularly given the way they'd interacted during their first meeting.
For a woman that rarely felt any embarrassment, Maddie was still feeling a little shame over how she'd let them get to her, over how easily she'd revealed herself.
God, they are so annoying! Her teeth clenched, enough to make her jaw flex just slightly.
Though she considered for a moment that ten minutes could be long enough to save or lose a life, she didn't mention it. She'd much rather be in New York, and in all likelihood she could do her job just as well from there. Most of what she was doing didn't even need her to see him that often, as long as they could keep in contact somehow.
In all likelihood, though, if she was stuck in Washington for much longer, she was going to end up quitting her job and moving anyway. This way, at least she'd keep her salary.
"Yes, New York sounds good. When do we leave?" It wouldn't take them long to find apartments, although they might not be lucky enough to be in the same building this time.

“Immediately.” He said, knowing well that she was only his PA now out of boredom. With her sheer level of power, the woman could easily be the most potent criminal mind in history.
So when she got bored, he ran the risk of losing an impressive asset. A very valuable asset. It was immensely important to make sure that didn’t happen.
“We start looking now, we’ve got time. We could just move tomorrow with all the endorsement money I’ve got. I’ll have our important stuff moved over – we could get furnished places otherwise.”
He nodded, leaning back in the seat.
“I’m going to go out there tomorrow morning, though. Get a feel for the town. This suit comes with a map system and a HUD with this little optical eye piece thing. It’s amazing. So I should have no problem mapping things.”

"Sounds like a plan." Maddie tapped her lip for a moment, putting the book down.
"If you take me there now, I can start looking straight away and stay in a hotel for the moment." She actually looked excited at the prospect.
Anything to get back to where life was interesting.
"Give me half an hour and I'll be ready to go."
Madelyne made no mention of the fact that she could just as easily make her own way there, probably just as quickly as him. Kyle didn't know all of the details of her telekinesis, and she thought that she quite liked it that way.
Not to mention that she didn't want to risk anyone spotting her. Madelyne's telapathy wasn't so advanced that she could make people forget her, or anything like that, and she didn't much fancy having to stay above the clouds.
