...beep beep beep...
Huh? Erik slowly came out of his reverie to the sound of some electronic device going on. Looking down at his desk, he saw that it was his computer screen blinking. It looked like someone had finally returned his message.
Dear 'Friend',
The Brotherhood are going from strength to strength.
We have need of all like ourselves.
If you wish to meet to discuss - you know how to contact us.
A Freedom Fighter
Getting back into contact with The Brotherhood would be a good thing, but he couldnt manage that himself just yet. Oh no, Erik's powers werent fully back yet, but, he could send someone else. Adam was a good candidate: loyal, intelligent, and actively supportive of the mutant cause. Depending on Tony's status, he might be good to send along as well. He'd have to see how he was doing.
Dear Freedom Fighter,
Set up a time and place and I'll send someone to meet you.
P.S. Might I be so bold as to ask if this is John?

Dear 'Friend'
Baltimore, MD, 21st May.
If you're truly a follower of our cause, there's no need to tell you exactly where. You'll know.
Freedom Fighter
P.S.: There is nobody here who goes by that name. At least, not any longer.

A smile spread across his weathered face as Erik read the reply. The rumors were true, then, and something very interesting was about to happen. A pity this couldnt mark his return; NovaTex would have made a spectacular re-entrance into the mutant world. Erik would send Adam in his stead and see how he fared.
Dear Freedom Fighter,
A man named Adam Fraser will be there to support the cause.
Enclosed is a picture. As for his abilities, I'll let you find out first hand.
A Friend
Now he had to prepare Adam for the trip. Picking up the phone on his desk, he dialed in the priest's number.

Dear Friend
I am so, so sorry.
Things got out of control very quickly in Baltimore and contact was never made with Adam. I will be sending one of my associates to find him as soon as the dust has settled. I can't apologise enough. Our numbers are pitifully small. It may be that we have to disband the Brotherhood.
Who are you?

Erik had been watching CNN since the early morning of May 21st. When there had been no longer any signs of John, he had begun to search through the other news channels, to see if maybe the station had missed anything. By the afternoon, Erik had assumed the worst, and coincidentally had no appetite. After receiving the message from John, he was livid.
He had spent months working on triggering the mutant gene safely. Adam was one of the first of his subjects to successfully be turned into a mutant, and was the most supportive of the mutant cause. His power might have been the turning point in this war of homo sapiens against homo superior. What happened? He sent Adam in, and the Brotherhood let him slip through their fingers. Who knows where Adam could be now, or if he'd be heard from again.
Dear Freedom Fighter,
You'll find out soon enough who I am. But your little slip up will have cost us a valuable assest. You have no idea how important Adam could have been to our cause. Because you never made contact with them, we most certainly lost our opportunity of solidifying his loyalties. But even in light of these mishaps, stay strong and keep the Brotherhood together. As long as there are those who believe in the mutant cause, the Brotherhood must keep fighting.
A Friend
Ironically, his appetite returned the moment he hit the send button. The Brotherhood had survived with only two members without much of a struggle. Whatever John's problem with numbers was, it couldn't be that serious.
