Ana had been resting for a good twelve hours now. Eric had spent the time inspecting the scene of the escape carried out by Deadpool and his manservant. In spite of his annoyance at the pairs disappearance he had to admire the mans fortitude and cunning. He had not only recovered from the process in record time but had managed to employ his, admittedly highly unusual, power to free himself.
Impressive, very impressive indeed.
He would have made a worthy addition to the Brotherhood if he could have been convinced of the cause.
Eric shook his head, it was never to be.
Better to look to the future.
Right now, the future was Ana.
Now he stood outside her quarters, an aging father figure that would embrace and comfort his new, mutant daughter.
He knocked twice and waited.

Exhausted in more than one way, Ana had fallen into a deep sleep almost as soon as she'd returned to her room. She was dreaming about the ocean, diving under the waves and being cradled by the water. Unbeknownst to the sleeping girl, she had slowly been drawing all of the water out of the air around her, so that it floated in an undulating globule above her head in time with her breathing.
Two knocks interrupted her dance with a watery prince, and Ana woke up gasping. Her unconcious control on the water above her lost in her confusion, she gasped again when it hit her face with a splash, effectively sweeping away the last vestiges of the dream and leaving her scowling.
Muttering to herself in Spanish, she stood and opened the door to find Mr. Lensherr waiting for her. Of course, he was looking far more composed than she ever could - especially after having received a faceful of water - and her scowl turned into a look of embarrassment.
"I... I'm sorry, I'm still not used to..."
She pushed wet locks of hair behind her ears and tried to compose herself.
"Is the young woman well?" She was still feeling terrible about what she'd done to the scientist.

"That's quite alright my dear," Eric said with a comforting smile, "the young lady is recovering well with naught but a trace of shock to remind her of the incident."
"We all learn control in time, it is one of the purposes of the facility down in the valley; to educate young mutants in the use of their powers, for what good are such gifts in untrained hands?"
He peered into the neat and slightly damp room behind her.
"May I?"
He was certain that with the right coaching Ana would come to wield her powers like a master. She had already shown an incredible aptitude for one so recently transformed and it was an ability that would only grow with practise.
And as she trained her body, Eric would train her mind, as he had done with so many before her.

"Oh, of course." Looking only a little awkward, she waved him into the room. Ana was more than aware that while her parents had paid a considerable amount of money for this experience (and she was quite sure that the experience she'd had was not what they'd been expecting), the Research Facility on El Dorado was in no way, shape, or form her home. She did not have privacy there, and if Mr. Lensherr chose to send her to sleep in the kitchens, he could do that.
Ana María doubted that would happen, though. Particularly thanks to her newly created affinity for water.
She was more than relieved to hear that the young woman was well - as much as she had doubted any ill would come of her loss of control, Ana had been left with more than just a niggling worry over the wellbeing of the young scientist. She would have to apologise sometime, if she was ever going to get near the intern again. It would be understandable if the other woman preferred not to have any more contact, though.
"I'm sorry, it happened while I was sleeping." With a frown, she held out her hand, conciously trying to draw the water to her. Not having actually controlled how it had happened before, Ana had no way of knowing how long it had taken, but after a good minute or so a fine mist seemed to start drawing out of the bed. It took much more effort than she'd have thought, and she waved away the excited water molecules before they could reform into droplets.
"Do... Do you think that it will always happen while I am unconcious? It would be... unpleasant to be awoken this way every day, although possibly useful." She tried to make light of what had happened, smiling at the old man sheepishly.

Eric watched with approval as Ana pulled the water from the soggy mattress and dispersed it into the air. Already she was showing remarkable control of her new powers, she would some along in leaps and bounds if her progress continued to improve.
"No my dear, once you have learned to fully control your powers I think they will answer only to your conscious mind."
The fact that they were acting of their own volition while she slept revealed that she would ultimately become very powerful indeed, perhaps as masterful with liquids as he had once been with metals.
"You need time to practise and hone your abilities," he gave her a comforting smile, "and I will be there to help you along."
"Tell me, how are you feeling now that you have had a chance to rest? There is no physical discomfort I hope?"

"No, nothing to speak of, really." She was actually excited about the prospect of learning more about how to use her new-found powers - everything that Ana María had been doing so far had been purely instinctual. They had the facilities - she should be taking advantage of them.
"I have been quite thirsty, but now it is not so ... er, severe as before." She was still aware of a dull feeling in the back of her throat, the kind that told her she should be having a sip of water or two, but nothing like the ravenous thirst she had felt before. Rest had certainly been a good idea - perhaps, with time, she would continue to improve that part of her mutation also.
She was vaguely aware of the fact that she needed to finish her study of the transformation's effect on her body, but that did not seem to be quite so important now. It was difficult for her to actually form a solid thought on why she was feeling different, but perhaps the fact that she was contradicting the laws of physics was a contributing factor. Science, her old friend, somehow felt... Inadequate for what she now knew of the world.
She was a typical youth in some ways, assuming that she understood the way of things after only a day's changed perspective.

"Good, that's good," Eric said with an encouraging nod, "your body has accepted the change. The thirst is quite possibly a side effect of your particular mutation and symptoms are always most pronounced immediately after manifestation. They will fade I'm sure."
"Now then, would you care to take a walk my dear?"
He smiled and spread one arm to indicate the orange, late afternoon sunlight.
"The evening draws in, but the weather is still fair and the Valley of Shadows is a pleasant enough stroll."
He was eager to see the extent of her control in these early days as a swift assessment would reveal much about her potential. A few drops now, but tomorrow?
Tomorrow would bring the tsunami.

"Oh, good." The idea of being perpetually thirsty for the rest of her life was not one that Ana welcomed, and it was good to know that she likely didn't have to put up with it for much longer. Though there had been a marked improvement just having been able to rest, she was glad to know that it would continue in that vein.
"A walk? Of course." Even if she did not wish to walk - which she wasn't feeling particularly strongly about one way or the other at that moment in time - Ana would not have refused Mr. Lensherr's request. Though her parents had given a rather large donation of funds to allow her to come to the facility, it was only by his grace that she stayed. After such a wonderful gift as her transformation, she did not feel that she could refuse any of his wishes - regardless of her original intentions at undertaking the procedure. Things had changed, now. Once she gained some control, Ana was confident that they would change even more. She could feel it all around her, the water vapour in the air, the blood pulsing beneath his skin, the droplets falling from the showerhead in the ensuite.
"If I may ask, Mr. Lensherr... What is your mutation?" Though she had often heard the interns referring to something, no-one had ever made it clear exactly what he could do.
She wondered if there was anyone in the facility that could teach her, anyone that would be able to help her to learn faster than she already was. Ana was working on instinct, so far, and she wanted to gain a more precise control as quickly as possible. She was young, and eager to learn, but most of all she wanted to live up to Erik's expectations.
[Continued in the Valley of Shadows, then?]
