It's often amazing what you find in a little scientific publication backwater, away from the glaring headlines of the rest of the media. Someone's found this little gem. Make of it what you will, but the article name drops like hell.
Abstract: The long-term effects of the "Mutant Cure" were never fully observed by the Worthington Labs Company, the antidote proclaimed safe for permanent use before testing could be completed. With the recent discovery of the X-linked mutant gene [1], and knowledge of basic genetics, we have conducted a more thorough study of the treatment of mutation through gene suppression, and its long-term effects on the gene. Through careful experimentation and computer models based on our data, we have determined the longevity of the “Mutant Cure” to be approximately one to two years, a far cry from the “permanent” status it was originally conferred.

So watch those around you who claim they're cured, because they might just get quite a surprise any time now.

Take it back, brothers.
